The 2024 XC40’s reliability picture is shaped by its mix of premium design, standard safety equipment, and practical packaging, but the model also carries some reliability concerns. That means you should treat condition and maintenance history as especially important when shopping used.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is that a neglected example could turn the XC40’s upscale appeal into higher-than-expected repair or upkeep headaches.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC40?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report to confirm the vehicle’s background and verify that the clean title story matches the listing. Put the inspection focus on the interior controls, rear visibility-related wear points, and overall condition, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day satisfaction. Because the XC40’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained, prioritize examples with clear service records and a tidy cabin.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC40 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.51% year-over-year.
