Used 2024 Volkswagen Atlas for Sale nearLos Angeles, CA

How much does the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas cost?

Prices have softened 9.72% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

It is a three-row midsize crossover SUV built for buyers who want a large family hauler with a roomy cabin and a practical layout. The 2024 update adds more standard features, refreshed styling, and a more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while still keeping the Atlas focused on space and everyday usability.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is still fairly pedestrian, and the ride quality and haptic controls can be frustrating if you value comfort and simple operation.

With 39.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Atlas is positioned as a practical, space-first family SUV, and the 2024 update adds more standard equipment without changing that core formula. Its turbocharged four-cylinder engine is described as pulling strongly and smoothly, and the model’s standard safety equipment is a notable strength.

Volkswagen also includes two years or 20,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s comfort and control quirks will bother you over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volkswagen Atlas?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a vehicle with larger wheels and more equipment. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the controls and ride quality suit your expectations.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Atlas lineup includes SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL Premium R-Line, and Peak Edition treatments on SE with Technology and SEL. Base SE models get 18-inch alloy wheels, while most other trims get 20-inch wheels and the SEL Premium R-Line gets 21-inch wheels; SE with Technology models add a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting.
• Powertrain: The 2024 Atlas uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with 269 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: VW’s IQ.Drive package includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, while predictive adaptive cruise control is standard on SEL and higher trim levels.
• Infotainment: A 12-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are standard, along with wireless phone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Six USB-C ports are standard, with up to eight available.
• Fuel efficiency: The Atlas returns 23 mpg combined, with 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway for front-wheel-drive models, and 22 mpg combined, with 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway for all-wheel-drive models.

Which 2024 Volkswagen Atlas trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, and SEL Premium R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and still want the Atlas’s roomy cabin, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the full set of driver-assist features.
• SE with Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting while keeping the Atlas’s practical, family-friendly setup.
• SEL: Choose this if you want more upscale equipment, including a head-up display and predictive adaptive cruise control.
• SEL Premium R-Line: This is the top choice if you want the most premium presentation, plus park assist and a surround-view camera system.

The safety package is a strong part of the lineup, but predictive adaptive cruise control is reserved for SEL and higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volkswagen Atlas?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 39.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,611 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,377, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $30,377 sits slightly below last year's $33,647.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale values may remain under pressure if the market stays well supplied. If you plan to sell later, the Atlas’s value will likely depend on how well it holds up against newer, better-equipped rivals and how desirable its trim and condition are at that time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas safe?

The 2024 Atlas earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash testing and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

VW’s IQ.Drive package includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist for highway driving, while predictive adaptive cruise control is standard on SEL and higher trim levels. The SEL Premium R-Line adds park assist and a surround-view camera system.

IIHS had not released ratings for this model year at the time of publication, though the structurally similar prior model received a Good score in most tests and a Marginal result in the updated moderate overlap front test.

Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 39.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds more standard features, more power, and a refreshed look.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,136, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $30,377 average.
• It adds standard automatic high-beam headlights and wireless charging.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2024 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to pay more for a slightly updated feature set, the 2025 is the cleaner choice.
