How much does the 2024 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 2.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,552 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Tacoma earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The redesign gives you a fresh mechanical foundation, a more modern cabin layout, and standard advanced driver-assistance tech. It also keeps the Tacoma’s core appeal intact if you want a midsize truck with strong off-road capability and a reputation for durability.

The trade-offs are a noisy cabin and an interior that still leans functional rather than upscale, even in higher trims. If you value toughness and trail ability more than refinement, that balance works in your favor.

33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Tacoma is described as carrying Toyota’s reputation for longevity, and the new generation keeps that durability-focused identity while adding a more modern platform and updated driver-assistance tech. Its powertrain lineup is all-turbo, and the new eight-speed automatic is described as smooth and well-timed in everyday driving.

Toyota also notes that the new setup improves steering feel and adds more advanced safety features, which should help the truck feel more current over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a truck with this much capability and tech can still be costly if you skip a careful inspection.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Tacoma?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, off-roading, or heavy commuting. Focus on cabin condition, seat operation, and how the truck drives at low speeds and on rough pavement, since those are the areas where the Tacoma’s trade-offs are most likely to show up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR uses 17-inch steel wheels, while most trims move to 17-inch alloys and TRD Sport and Limited get 18-inch alloys. The cabin stays function-first even in higher trims, and the Limited adds heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats.
• Powertrain: The Tacoma uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, with 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque on most trims and 228 hp and 243 lb-ft in the base SR. Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are both available, and the eight-speed automatic is the main transmission.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, including Lane Tracing Assist, lane-departure alert with steering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. Road-sign assist and an emergency stop system are also included, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all but the base trim.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 8 inches, with a 14-inch display on higher trims. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and an optional JBL system adds a removable portable speaker.
• Fuel efficiency: The least-efficient version is expected to get 20 mpg combined, with up to 21 mpg combined for 4WD with the automatic and up to 23 mpg combined with FWD.

Which 2024 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Pre-Runner, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it gives you the new turbocharged engine, standard safety tech, and the basic Tacoma formula at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the truck’s core capability and don’t need the extra comfort or appearance upgrades.
• SR5: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits above the base trim without pushing into the pricier specialty models. You get a more rounded everyday truck while still keeping the Tacoma’s practical, durability-first character.
• TRD Pre-Runner: Choose this if you want a more specialized truck setup without moving into the off-road-focused trims. It keeps the Tacoma’s rugged identity while targeting buyers who want a distinct configuration.
• TRD Sport: This trim adds sport-tuned shocks and 18-inch alloy wheels, so it suits you if you want a more road-oriented feel and a sharper look.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the trim to target if trail use matters most, since it gets monotube Bilstein shocks and is built around the Tacoma’s off-road strengths.
• Limited: This is the comfort-leaning choice, with heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats and an available adaptive variable suspension. It’s the trim to buy if you want the most upscale Tacoma experience.

Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all but the base trim, where it can be added as part of a package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,552 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,833, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $38,008 sits slightly below last year's $39,030.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also suggests the truck is holding value reasonably well rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that matters because a model with steady demand and a broad shopper base is usually easier to move later.

The Tacoma’s reputation for durability and its strong market interest should continue to support demand over time. If you keep mileage, condition, and service history in good shape, you should have a better shot at a strong resale outcome.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including Lane Tracing Assist, lane-departure alert with steering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota also adds road-sign assist and an emergency stop system, and adaptive cruise control now offers four following-distance settings. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all but the base trim, where it can be added as part of a package.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a ground-up redesign, standard advanced driver-assistance tech, and a more modern turbocharged powertrain.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $35,818, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $38,008 average.
• It offers a more familiar, older Tacoma formula with strong reliability and proven off-road appeal.

The bottom line: Buy the 2024 if you want the newer platform, updated tech, and stronger everyday refinement. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable with the older-generation truck, the 2023 is the value play.
