How much does the 2024 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 1.41% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,481 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

It stands out as a practical daily driver with room for up to five people, appealing styling, and up to 57 mpg in combined driving. The trade-offs are a cramped back seat and limited cargo space, plus some visibility and instrumentation quirks that can make the cabin feel less polished than the rest of the package.

The market also looks supportive, with 42.9% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Prius is presented as a durable, efficient hybrid with strong everyday usability and a reputation for delivering low running costs. Its expert evaluation also points to a well-rounded package that blends fuel savings with improved driving dynamics, which helps it feel less like a compromise than earlier Priuses.

The hybrid system uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack, and the AWD setup adds a second rear electric motor. Toyota also includes a maintenance-friendly ownership angle through its connected-service and safety-tech package, which adds convenience features that can make day-to-day use easier.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s tight rear seat, limited cargo room, and visibility compromises may matter more as mileage and wear add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on cabin condition, because the interior materials and packaging can make small issues more noticeable over time. Pay extra attention to visibility, seat comfort, and how the infotainment and driver displays work in real use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, and Limited trims differ in appearance and equipment, with the XLE and Limited standing out for their 19-inch aluminum wheels. The base trim uses 17-inch wheels with black covers, and the cabin’s digital panel can be hard to see depending on your seating position.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid setup pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. Front-wheel drive is rated at 57 mpg in combined driving for the LE, while AWD adds a rear electric motor and lowers efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, road sign recognition, and Proactive Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: The LE and XLE use an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Limited gets a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and connected services are included, and the Limited can add a 360-degree camera system and semi-autonomous parking assistance.
• Fuel efficiency: The LE returns 57 mpg combined with FWD and 54 mpg with AWD. The XLE and Limited are rated at 52 mpg combined, or 49 mpg with AWD.

Which 2024 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Prius is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest fuel economy and the lowest entry price. It keeps the Prius’s core hybrid efficiency intact while using the smaller wheel setup that helps it reach 57 mpg combined with FWD.
• XLE: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top model. It adds the more attractive 19-inch wheels and still keeps the Prius’s core tech and safety strengths intact.
• Limited: This is the right pick if you want the most equipment, including the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and the available JBL audio system. It also unlocks the available 360-degree surround-view camera and semi-autonomous parking assistance.

Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so you do not need to move up the lineup for the core safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,481 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.41% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 88.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,652, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $29,374 sits slightly above last year's $28,966.

That upward move suggests the Prius is holding buyer interest well, which can help support resale value if you decide to sell later. The model’s strong fuel economy, broad appeal, and solid safety reputation all work in its favor when it comes time to list it again.

Because the year-over-year change is positive, you may not see steep depreciation pressure in the near term if the car stays in good condition. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history should remain easier to move than less tidy ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2024 Prius earns Top Safety Pick+ honors from IIHS and five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, where it gets a four-star rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2024 Prius includes Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The standard suite adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, road sign recognition, and Proactive Driving Assist.

One caveat is that the system does not include hands-free Traffic Jam Assist, and the lane-centering assist still expects you to keep input on the wheel.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.41% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong safety ratings, efficient hybrid performance, and appealing styling in a practical daily driver.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,671, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,374 average.
• It introduced the Prius’s sharper styling and a big power increase while keeping efficiency strong.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,555, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $29,374 average.
• It adds a new Nightshade trim with a blacked-out look.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest all-around mix of value, safety, and efficiency, the 2024 is the best starting point. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 can save you money while still delivering the redesigned Prius formula, and the 2025 is worth a look if you want the newer trim choice and can find a good deal.
