How much does the 2024 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,487 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The Prius is easy to recommend if you want an everyday hybrid that blends style, practicality, and affordability. It carries up to five people, offers all-wheel drive, and delivers up to 57 mpg in combined driving, so it fits well if you want low running costs without giving up modern appeal.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and limited cargo space, and the driving position can make the instrumentation awkward to read. Even so, the Prius still makes sense if you value efficiency and comfort up front more than maximum interior room.

Good and great deals account for 37.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Prius is presented as a practical, fuel-efficient hybrid with good safety ratings and comfortable front seats, which supports the case for dependable everyday use. Its hybrid system is described as energetic and efficient, and the car’s cost-effectiveness focus suggests it should be appealing for buyers who want a sensible ownership experience.

Toyota also includes a maintenance perk in the ownership package for connected services, and the safety suite is standard across the lineup. For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is less about the powertrain and more about living with the Prius’s tight rear seat, limited cargo room, and visibility compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with options. Focus on cabin condition, visibility-related wear, and whether the car’s tech and driver-assistance features work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, and Limited each bring different equipment levels, with the XLE and Limited standing out for their 19-inch wheels and more upscale presentation. The base trim is the most efficiency-focused, while the higher trims add more comfort and convenience.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid setup uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery, and all-wheel drive adds a second rear motor. The plug-in hybrid is a separate model, so you should focus on the standard hybrid system here.
• Safety package: Every Prius gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, road sign recognition, and Proactive Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: The Prius uses an 8-inch touchscreen on LE and XLE models, while Limited gets a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and connected services are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The LE returns 57 mpg in combined driving, while XLE and Limited are rated at 52 mpg. With all-wheel drive, those figures drop to 54 mpg for LE and 49 mpg for XLE and Limited.

Which 2024 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Prius is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the best-value choice if you want the highest fuel economy and the lowest entry price. It keeps the Prius focused on efficiency and still includes the full safety suite and wireless smartphone integration.
• XLE: This is the trim to consider if you want the best balance of value and comfort. It adds a more upscale feel than LE without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most features, including the larger touchscreen, premium audio, and available parking assistance tech. It suits you best if you want the most fully equipped Prius.

Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,487 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 88.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,655, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $29,326 sits slightly above last year's $28,900.

That upward move suggests the Prius is holding demand well in the used market. If you buy one now and keep it in good condition, you may benefit from the model’s strong efficiency reputation and broad shopper appeal later on.

The price trend also shows that buyers are still willing to pay near the top of the range for this model year, which can help support future resale strength. Well-kept examples with clean history and desirable equipment should remain easier to move than less desirable ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2024 Prius earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, for which it gets a four-star rating, and the IIHS calls it a Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Prius gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The standard suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, road sign recognition, and Proactive Driving Assist.

One caveat is that the lane-centering system does not include hands-free Traffic Jam Assist, and the steering wheel lacks sensors that would let you fully relax your grip. That means you still need to stay engaged behind the wheel.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.47% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines stylish design, strong efficiency, and a practical interior for daily driving.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,704, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,326 average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with stronger power and broader appeal.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,488, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $29,326 average.
• It adds a new Nightshade trim with a blacked-out look.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the best all-around pick if you want the current Prius formula with strong efficiency, good safety, and broad appeal. If price matters most, the 2023 is the smarter value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer trim addition and can find a good deal.
