How much does the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek cost?

Prices have softened 5.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,326 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its build quality, comfort, handling, fuel efficiency, safety features, and value for money. The Crosstrek’s standard all-wheel drive and versatile, outdoorsy setup make it a strong fit if you want a small SUV that feels useful in bad weather or on rougher roads.

The trade-offs are that the 2.0-liter engine can feel underpowered, and the interior materials are described as cheap. Even so, the Crosstrek’s mix of practicality and capability makes it appealing if you want a compact crossover with more confidence than many rivals.

Good and great deals account for 33.7% of listings, which is a decent sign that you can still find competitive pricing.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the Crosstrek’s build quality, comfort, and long-term value. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that Subaru has done an admirable job of packaging appealing features into every trim level, which supports the sense that this is a car you can count on day to day.

The Crosstrek’s standard all-wheel drive and reputation for strong resale values also reinforce its durability-minded appeal. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the platform and more about choosing a well-kept example, especially if you want to avoid wear-related issues on a vehicle that may have seen active use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean title alone does not tell you how the car was maintained or driven. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on tires, brakes, suspension wear, and any signs of hard use, especially if the Crosstrek was used for commuting in rough weather or light outdoor duty. Pay close attention to cabin condition too, since the interior materials are described as less upscale than some rivals.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim gets 17-inch alloy wheels, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and optional roof rails, while Premium, Sport, and Limited trims add standard roof rails. The Wilderness trim stands apart with unique exterior and interior design elements, more aggressive bodywork, StarTex synthetic leather, all-weather floormats, and a ladder-style roof rack.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter engine makes 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.5-liter engine makes 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. All versions use a CVT, and the 2.0-liter is described as poky, so power expectations matter.
• Safety package: Subaru EyeSight is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. New for 2024, it uses a wider-angle lens, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The 11.6-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the Base trim. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad is available across the lineup and standard on the Sport and Limited trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter model is rated at 27 mpg city, 34 highway, and 29 combined, while the 2.5-liter version is rated at 26 city, 33 highway, and 29 combined. Wilderness trims drop to 25 city, 29 highway, and 27 combined.

Which 2024 Subaru Crosstrek trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Wilderness.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, and it gives you standard all-wheel drive, 17-inch alloy wheels, and the Crosstrek’s core rugged utility at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the model, but you give up the larger touchscreen and some convenience features.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment without jumping too far in price. It also gets paddle shifters and the more capable version of X-Mode with dirt/snow settings, making it a smart middle ground if you want a better-equipped daily driver.
• Sport: This trim adds the stronger 2.5-liter engine, paddle shifters, and the upgraded X-Mode setup with mud and deep snow settings. It is a good fit if you want more power and more capability without going all the way to Wilderness.
• Limited: This is the more comfort- and tech-focused choice, with the stronger engine and the higher-end equipment mix. It suits you if you want a more polished Crosstrek for everyday use.
• Wilderness: This is the one to choose if you care most about off-pavement ability. It gets increased ground clearance, a shorter final-drive ratio, a more aggressive off-road setup, and a towing capacity that rises to 3,500 pounds.

EyeSight is standard, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,326 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.00% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,926, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $26,169 sits slightly below last year's $27,545.

That softer pricing trend suggests the Crosstrek is holding value reasonably well, but not so tightly that buyers should expect prices to rise quickly. If you plan to sell later, the current market gives you a useful benchmark: a well-kept example should still attract interest, but condition and trim will matter a lot.

The fact that prices have eased also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. Higher-demand versions with stronger equipment and cleaner histories should be easier to move than rougher, higher-mileage examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek safe?

The Subaru Crosstrek has been awarded a Top Safety Pick designation by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) since 2013.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru EyeSight is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. For 2024, the system uses a wider-angle lens, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring. That gives you a strong standard safety package even before you move up the trim ladder.

The main caveat is that the 2024 model has not yet been crash-tested by the IIHS or NHTSA, so the safety reputation is based on the brand’s track record and the equipment on board rather than fresh test results.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds multiple engine options, upgraded safety features, and a new Wilderness trim level that increases off-road capability.

The bottom line: The 2024 Crosstrek is the right pick if you want the updated model-year mix of safety, tech, and capability, especially if you value the Wilderness trim or the improved cabin tech. If your priority is simply the lowest possible price, a nearby year may be worth a look, but the 2024 gives you a strong balance of features and market availability.
