How much does the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek cost?

Prices have softened 5.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,327 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek earns a 4.83/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its build quality, comfort, handling, fuel efficiency, safety features, and value for money. The overview also points to its standard all-wheel drive and rugged personality, which make it especially appealing if you want a small SUV with extra confidence in poor weather or on rougher roads. The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and interior materials that feel cheap.

With 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting build quality and comfort alongside the Crosstrek’s practical everyday usability. The expert review also emphasizes Subaru’s reputation for strong resale values and notes that the model has been a popular choice for years, which supports confidence in long-term ownership.

Subaru also frames the Crosstrek as a vehicle built for active, adventurous use, and the standard all-wheel drive and utilitarian design reinforce that durable, easy-to-live-with character. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a neglected example could show wear in the drivetrain, cabin materials, or suspension sooner than a well-kept one.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has seen winter use, off-pavement driving, or frequent commuting. Focus on overall condition, because the Crosstrek’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether the cabin and mechanicals still feel tight and well cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim gets 17-inch alloy wheels, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and optional roof rails, while the Premium, Sport, and Limited trims add standard roof rails. The Wilderness trim stands apart with unique exterior and interior design elements, StarTex synthetic leather, all-weather floormats, an interior cargo-area LED light, and a ladder-style roof rack.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.5-liter flat four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. All versions use a CVT, and the manual transmission is no longer available.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight system is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. For 2024, it uses a wider-angle lens, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The 11.6-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the Base trim. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad is standard on the Sport and Limited trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 27 mpg city, 34 highway, and 29 combined for the 2.0-liter engine, 26 city, 33 highway, and 29 combined for the 2.5-liter engine, and 25 city, 29 highway, and 27 combined for the Wilderness.

Which 2024 Subaru Crosstrek trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Wilderness.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Crosstrek’s core formula at the lowest price. It’s the right pick if you mainly want standard all-wheel drive, good ground clearance, and the Crosstrek’s practical personality without paying for extra equipment.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability while staying below the higher-priced models. It also gets paddle shifters and the more capable dirt/snow version of X-Mode, making it a smart middle ground if you want more features without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Sport: This trim is the better choice if you want the stronger 2.5-liter engine and more capability-oriented equipment. It also gets paddle shifters, the upgraded mud and deep snow version of X-Mode, and standard wireless charging, so it suits buyers who want a more complete and more responsive Crosstrek.
• Limited: This is the upscale non-Wilderness choice, pairing the 2.5-liter engine with more comfort and convenience features. It’s the trim to consider if you want a more polished daily driver and are willing to pay for the added equipment.
• Wilderness: This is the one to buy if you care most about off-road capability and rugged utility. It adds 9.3 inches of ground clearance, a ladder-style roof rack, StarTex upholstery, all-weather floormats, a more aggressive final-drive setup, and higher towing capacity, making it the clear pick for adventurous use.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the wider-angle EyeSight update and automatic emergency steering help make the newer model year especially appealing.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,327 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,953, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $26,293 sits slightly below last year's $27,867.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are more limited than they were a year ago. Even so, the Crosstrek’s broad appeal, standard all-wheel drive, and strong reputation for value should help it remain attractive to used buyers. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain it well, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek safe?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS in prior years, and the 2023 model received five stars overall from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight system is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. For 2024, it uses a wider-angle lens, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring. That gives you a strong standard safety package, especially for a small crossover.

The main caveat is that the 2024 model has not yet been crash-tested by IIHS or NHTSA, so the safety reputation is based on the model’s history rather than fresh test results for this year.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new Wilderness trim level, upgraded safety features, and a larger touchscreen.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the better pick if you want the updated Crosstrek formula with stronger tech, improved safety equipment, and the added Wilderness option. If your priority is simply finding the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2024 gives you a strong mix of value, capability, and features.
