Used 2024 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearSierra Vista, AZ

How much does the 2024 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 10.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,011 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Ascent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It stands out as a three-row SUV for buyers who want a Subaru with room for the whole family, and it is the only Subaru SUV in the lineup with three rows of seats. Standard all-wheel drive, substantial ground clearance, and strong safety performance make it especially appealing if you want a capable all-weather family hauler. The trade-offs are that fuel economy is unimpressive and the lane-centering technology can be irritating.

The market also looks reasonably favorable, with 39.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is positioned as a practical, family-focused SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a reputation for strong safety performance. Its expert evaluation also points to a good-value package that should serve your family well if you want a mainstream midsize three-row SUV with Subaru character.

The powertrain is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder paired with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive, and Subaru says it can tow up to 5,000 pounds. The expert evaluation also notes that the CVT does a convincing job of mimicking a conventional automatic most of the time.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. On Premium trim and above, you also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and higher trims can add automatic reverse braking and Driver Focus monitoring.

If you buy used, the biggest long-term ownership risk is that the fuel economy and lane-centering behavior may be more frustrating over time than the core mechanical package.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one that has seen family-duty use. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the driver-assistance systems behave the way you expect on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup runs from Base through Touring, and the biggest feature gap at the lower end is that you need to move up from Base to Premium to get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Touring adds the most luxury and convenience equipment, including a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a navigation system, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a camera-based rearview mirror, and a surround-view camera.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive. Subaru says towing capacity reaches 5,000 pounds, though the Base trim is rated for 2,000 pounds.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not standard on Base.
• Infotainment: The Ascent uses an 11.6-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and text-messaging capability. Higher trims can add connected services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and the 14-speaker Harman Kardon system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Ascent is rated at 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined with 20-inch wheels, and the expert evaluation recorded 16.7 mpg in city driving and 18.6 mpg overall during testing.

Which 2024 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Onyx Edition Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, but it is best for shoppers who mainly want the Ascent’s standard all-wheel drive, three-row layout, and core safety tech at the lowest price.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim because it adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and brings in more of the convenience and connected-services equipment that makes the Ascent easier to live with.
• Onyx Edition: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a step up in equipment without jumping all the way to the upper luxury trims.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale feel and a stronger mix of comfort and technology features.
• Onyx Edition Limited: This is the right pick if you want the Limited’s equipment with the Onyx Edition’s blacked-out styling treatment.
• Touring: This is the top choice if you want the most complete Ascent, including the panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, navigation, the 14-speaker Harman Kardon system, the camera-based rearview mirror, and the surround-view camera.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

The market looks moderately favorable for selective buyers.

• Deal availability: 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,011 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,439, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $32,439 sits slightly below last year's $36,058.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, the current trend points to softer near-term resale conditions than a year ago. Still, the Ascent’s family-friendly layout and standard all-wheel drive should help it remain relevant with shoppers who want a practical three-row SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating, and it also earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires moving up from Base to Premium, and higher trims can add automatic reverse braking and Driver Focus monitoring.

The main caveat is the lane-centering assist behavior, which the expert evaluation found irritating and sometimes overly intrusive.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model carries over with almost no changes, so you are getting the same core package of standard all-wheel drive, strong safety performance, and family-focused utility.

The bottom line:

If you want the Ascent’s standard all-wheel drive, three-row practicality, and strong safety reputation, the 2024 model is a sensible buy, especially given the softer pricing and healthy inventory. If you are highly price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower-priced example offers the same core strengths with a better deal.
