Used 2024 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearMontpelier, VT

How much does the 2024 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 10.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,908 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable range of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated SUV with an expert rating of 6.8/10. The 2024 Subaru Ascent is a three-row SUV aimed at you if you want Subaru’s standard all-wheel drive, substantial ground clearance, and family-friendly packaging in a model that fills a unique role in the brand’s lineup. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior design feels outdated, and the lane-centering technology can be irritating in real-world use. Even so, the Ascent’s practical mission and strong safety reputation make it a sensible fit if you value capability and utility over flash.

There are 37.4% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Subaru Ascent’s appeal is built around standard all-wheel drive, a practical three-row layout, and a safety-first reputation. Its turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is described as a good power source, and Subaru’s CVT is said to do a convincing job of mimicking a conventional automatic most of the time. The model’s safety systems and family-focused design reinforce the sense that it’s built for everyday use.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite is a major part of that story, and the Ascent also includes automatic high-beam headlights as standard. On the cost side, the model is positioned as a good value relative to similarly equipped rivals.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the fuel economy can be disappointing, especially if you drive mostly in town or spend a lot of time on the highway.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has spent time in rough weather. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, and how the driver-assistance systems behave on a test drive. If possible, pay close attention to the infotainment display in bright sunlight and make sure the cabin electronics work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup runs from Base through Touring, and the biggest feature gap at the bottom of the range is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires an upgrade from Base to Premium. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment, with Touring bringing the most upscale content.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive. It’s tuned for everyday usefulness and towing, but fuel economy is a weak point.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not standard on Base.
• Infotainment: The Ascent uses an 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and text-messaging capability. Connected services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system are available on higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The Ascent is described as unimpressive on fuel economy, and the test-drive data notes 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined with 20-inch wheels.

Which 2024 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Onyx Edition Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point if you want the lowest price and standard all-wheel drive, but you give up blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert unless you move up to Premium.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the important safety upgrade that Base lacks while keeping the Ascent’s core family-friendly strengths intact.
• Onyx Edition: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a trim that sits above Premium in the lineup.
• Limited: This is the step-up choice if you want more comfort and convenience equipment without going all the way to the top.
• Onyx Edition Limited: This trim combines the more distinctive Onyx treatment with the richer equipment level of Limited.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, adding a panoramic sunroof, premium Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, navigation, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a camera-based rearview mirror, and a surround-view camera.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert starts at Premium, not Base.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,908 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,771, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $31,771 sits slightly below last year's $35,365.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited if depreciation continues at a similar pace. If you plan to sell later, the Ascent’s value will likely depend on how well it holds demand among shoppers who want standard AWD and three-row utility.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating, and it was named a Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard EyeSight suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires moving up from Base to Premium, and higher trims can add automatic reverse braking and a Driver Focus monitoring system.

One caveat is that the lane-centering assist can be frustrating in real-world driving, especially around lane splits and expanding or contracting lanes.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model continues after the 2023 refresh, so you get the updated styling, technology, and added trim content without waiting for a major redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed Ascent with standard AWD, strong safety credentials, and a price that has already moved down from last year, the 2024 is the straightforward choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years for the best combination of equipment and asking price.
