Used 2024 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearDayton, OH

How much does the 2024 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 9.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,063 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Ascent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Ascent fits you well if you want a three-row SUV with standard all-wheel drive, substantial ground clearance, and a clear family-hauling role in Subaru’s lineup. It also stands out as the brand’s only three-row SUV, so it fills a specific niche rather than trying to be a generic midsize crossover.

The main trade-offs are its unimpressive fuel economy and its outdated interior design, and the lane-centering technology can be irritating. Even so, it remains a practical choice if you value value for money and an all-weather setup.

38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Ascent’s reliability story is tied to its straightforward family-use mission: standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged four-cylinder, and a practical cabin layout that is built for everyday duty. The expert evaluation also points to good value for money and a vehicle that should serve your family well if you like its overall package.

Its powertrain is described as a turbocharged setup that delivers good power and uses a CVT with programmed ratios that does a convincing job of mimicking a conventional automatic most of the time. That suggests a drivetrain tuned for easy daily use rather than excitement.

Subaru’s safety and connected-services features add to the ownership appeal, and the available maintenance and emergency-support tech can make day-to-day use easier. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same fuel-thirsty turbo setup and irritating lane-centering behavior may remain part of the ownership experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or vehicles with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, how the cabin has held up, and whether the driver-assistance systems behave the way you expect on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup runs from Base through Touring, and the biggest feature gap at the bottom of the range is that you need to move up from Base to Premium to get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment, with Touring bringing the most upscale cabin features.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive. It’s tuned for everyday drivability and towing, but fuel economy is a weak point.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not standard on Base.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and text-messaging capability. Higher trims can add connected services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Ascent is rated at 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined with 20-inch wheels, and real-world testing returned 16.7 mpg in the city and 18.6 mpg overall.

Which 2024 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Onyx Edition Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, but you give up blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with the standard equipment set.
• Premium: This is the trim that unlocks blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers who want a better safety and convenience balance without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Onyx Edition: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a step up in equipment over the lower trims while staying short of the luxury-oriented upper end.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale feel and more comfort features without going all the way to Touring.
• Onyx Edition Limited: This is the best fit if you want the richer equipment of the Limited with the blacked-out styling theme.
• Touring: This is the top choice if you want the most complete Ascent, including a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, navigation, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a camera-based rearview mirror, and a surround-view camera.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert starts at Premium, not Base.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you have room to shop, but the better listings may not last long.

• Deal availability: 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,063 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,365, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $32,365 sits slightly below last year's $35,895.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially clean, well-equipped, or lightly used. If you’re buying now, the softer pricing can work in your favor; if you’re selling later, you may need to be more competitive on condition and price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating, and it was named a Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard EyeSight suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. That gives you a broad set of standard driver aids right from the start.

One important caveat is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires moving up from Base to Premium. The lane-centering system is also a known weak spot, with behavior that can feel intrusive and inconsistent in real-world driving.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model carries over with almost no changes, so you’re shopping a familiar package with standard all-wheel drive, strong safety credentials, and family-friendly utility.

The bottom line: If you want the Ascent’s core strengths at a softer price, the 2024 is the sensible path because it delivers the same basic formula with little change and a market that has eased from last year. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2024’s cleaner market snapshot and strong inventory mix.
