What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, because the Santa Cruz’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept. Pay extra attention to the cabin and any signs of hard use if you plan to rely on it as a daily driver.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE, SEL, Night, XRT and Limited trims differ in appearance and equipment, and the base trims are the most stripped-down. The upper trims look and feel more upscale, while the Limited brings the most complete cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: Lower trims use a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Higher trims add a turbocharged engine with 282 hp and 311 lb-ft, plus an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
• Safety package: All trims get forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, lane-following assist, safe exit warning and rear occupant alert. XRT and above add adaptive cruise control and forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian-, cyclist- and junction-turning detection.
• Infotainment: SE and SEL trims use an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Upper trims get a 10.25-inch display, but smartphone compatibility is wired only, and wireless charging is not standard on the base SE.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD tester returned 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined, and the weeklong average was 23.3 mpg.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Santa Cruz formula at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you want the truck’s utility and style without paying for extra equipment.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim because it adds more everyday convenience while keeping the Santa Cruz’s approachable character. It also gets the 8-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration, which is a strong usability upgrade.
• Night: Choose this if you want a darker, more distinctive look without moving all the way up the range. It’s the trim for shoppers who care about style first.
• XRT: This is the trim to target if you want more capability and a stronger feature set. It adds adaptive cruise control and the more advanced forward-collision avoidance setup.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with the most upscale presentation and the most complete feature set. It suits you best if you want the nicest Santa Cruz and don’t mind paying for it.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,663 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz's resale value?

The current average of $26,468 sits slightly below last year's $28,896.

That softer pricing suggests the Santa Cruz is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly. If you’re planning to resell later, you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than rougher trucks, especially if they have the stronger feature set buyers want.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz safe?

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz earns a five-star front crash rating and a four-star rollover rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai includes a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features across the lineup: forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, lane-following assist, safe exit warning and rear occupant alert. XRT trim and above add adaptive cruise control and forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian-, cyclist- and junction-turning detection. Limited adds Highway Drive Assist and a blind-spot view monitor.

A key caveat is that NHTSA has not given the Santa Cruz an overall safety rating, and IIHS has not yet rated the 2024 model.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the familiar formula while adding a few new touches for the year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,985, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $26,468 average.
• It adds new tech, styling updates, and off-roading enhancements.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2024 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for the newer updates, the 2025 is the better path.
