How much does the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 12.36% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,084 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban earns an 7.5/10 expert rating, and it is aimed at you if you need a body-on-frame family hauler with serious space and towing ability. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

The overview and test-drive notes point to a vehicle that is especially compelling when you need cargo room, passenger room, and capability in one package. The strongest trade-offs are that the V8s are not fuel-efficient and the technology is underwhelming, even though the Suburban delivers excellent powertrain options and great towing capability.

For shoppers who truly need a large truck-based SUV, that mix makes sense; for everyone else, the size and cost will be harder to justify. Good and great deals account for 36.5% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban is presented as a durable, body-on-frame hauler built for heavy family duty and towing, with the kind of rugged mission that tends to suit long-term use when you actually need its capability. Its powertrain lineup is broad, and the diesel option is described as smooth, strong, and notably more efficient than the V8s.

The performance notes also emphasize a well-tuned 10-speed automatic and a chassis that handles its size competently, which supports the idea that the truck is engineered for sustained use rather than short-term novelty. On the cost side, the diesel is called out as a money-saver at the pump, and that can help reduce ownership strain over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this is still a large, expensive SUV with thirsty gasoline engines, so upkeep and operating costs can add up if you do not need its full capability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean title does not guarantee a clean life. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from towing, suspension condition, brake condition, and any signs of heavy use. You should also pay close attention to trim-specific equipment, since some desirable features are reserved for higher grades or cost extra even on expensive versions.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Suburban is offered in six trims: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. The LS is the only trim with cloth seats and the base 8-inch screen, while higher trims add leather upholstery and a 10.2-inch touchscreen; even the top trims still leave some equipment, like power running boards and the panoramic moonroof, as options.
• Powertrain: You can get a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, or a Duramax 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder. The diesel is the efficiency standout, while the 6.2-liter V8 is the stronger gas upgrade and the 5.3-liter V8 is the most common engine.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, front and rear park assist, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, and Teen Driver. Rear cross-traffic alert is available on lower trims and standard on higher ones, while Super Cruise is available on the Premier and High Country through the Advanced Technology Package.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a 10.2-inch touchscreen, while the LS uses an 8-inch screen. Wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Google Built-in are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel delivers significantly better fuel economy than the V8s, and the V8s are not fuel-efficient.

Which 2024 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, but it is also the most stripped-down version, with cloth seats and the smaller 8-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Suburban lineup, but it leaves you wanting more equipment.
• LT: This is the trim most buyers should start with if they want a better balance of equipment and value. It adds the more upscale cabin feel and the 10.2-inch touchscreen, making it a more livable daily choice than the LS.
• RST: Choose this if you want a sportier appearance and still want the core Suburban capability. It sits above the LT and gives you a more style-forward take on the same big-SUV formula.
• Z71: This is the one to consider if you want the off-road-focused version. It is the only trim with standard 4WD exclusion noted in the performance content, and it also opens the door to the stronger 6.2-liter V8.
• Premier: This is the luxury-leaning sweet spot if you want more comfort and access to Super Cruise. It is also one of the trims that can be equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Advanced Technology Package.
• High Country: This is the top trim, with the richest cabin presentation and the most available tech. It is the right pick if you want the most upscale Suburban experience, though some premium features still cost extra.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but rear cross-traffic alert is more limited on lower trims and becomes standard on higher ones.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Chevrolet Suburban?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to make shopping worthwhile if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,084 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.36% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $55,866, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $55,866 sits slightly below last year's $63,748.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your resale value may not rebound quickly unless demand tightens or the vehicle is especially well equipped and well maintained.

For a future seller, the best protection is to buy smart now and keep the truck in strong condition. Higher-trim examples with desirable equipment and a clean history should hold up better than heavily used, poorly documented trucks.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in frontal crash tests and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-crash tests and in its overall NHTSA rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver assistance includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, front and rear park assist, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, and Teen Driver. Rear cross-traffic alert is available on lower trims and standard on higher ones, while Super Cruise is available on the Premier and High Country through the Advanced Technology Package.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.36% compared with last year.
• The 2024 keeps the Suburban’s strong space-and-towing formula while still offering the independent rear suspension and broad capability mix.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $63,275, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $55,866 average.
• It brings a much larger touchscreen and a more modern cabin.

The bottom line: if you want the better value and can live with the older tech, the 2024 is the smarter buy. If you care most about the updated interior experience and can pay more, the 2025 is the better fit; price-sensitive buyers should stay with the 2024.
