How much does the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 12.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,081 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban earns an 7.5/10 expert rating, and it is aimed squarely at you if you need a body-on-frame family hauler with serious cargo room and towing ability.

The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

That strength shows up in the way it combines massively useful cargo capacity, excellent powertrain options, and great towing capability with a cabin that was improved by the 2021 redesign’s independent rear suspension and more usable third-row space. The trade-offs are just as clear: the V8s are not fuel-efficient, the technology is underwhelming, and it is expensive.

The 2024 Suburban is a strong fit if your life includes big passengers, big gear, or big trailers, but you should expect some compromises in efficiency and interior tech.

36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban is presented as a capable, truck-based SUV that is built around utility, and its expert evaluation reinforces that it is a serious long-haul family hauler rather than a delicate luxury crossover.

Its powertrain lineup is described as strong, with the available diesel singled out as a sweet engine with plenty of acceleration and great passing power. The 10-speed automatic is also described as well-tuned and decisive, which supports the sense that the mechanical package is engineered to handle heavy use.

For ownership, the main long-term risk is that you are buying a large, expensive SUV whose running costs can add up if you do not regularly use its towing and hauling strengths.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a large SUV like this can rack up hard use even when it looks clean on paper. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, suspension, brakes, and any towing-related wear, and make sure the vehicle’s condition matches how much hauling or family duty it has seen.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Chevrolet sells the Suburban in six trims: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. They all come with automatic windshield wipers, LED headlights and taillights, and tinted windows, but the LS is the only trim with cloth seats and the base trim also has the smaller 8-inch screen. Higher trims add leather upholstery, larger wheels, and more upscale cabin materials, while the High Country can still leave some desirable items as options.
• Powertrain: The Suburban offers three engine options: a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, and a Duramax 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder. The 5.3-liter V8 makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the 6.2-liter V8 makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, and the diesel makes 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The diesel is the efficiency-minded choice, while the V8s emphasize towing and acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, front and rear park assist, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, and Chevy’s Teen Driver feature. Rear cross-traffic alert is available on lower trims and standard on higher ones. Super Cruise is available on the Premier and High Country through the Advanced Technology Package.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a 10.2-inch touchscreen, while the base LS uses an 8-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are included, and Google Built-in adds access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store without phone pairing.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel delivers significantly better fuel economy than the V8s, and the 2024 Suburban’s gas engines are not fuel-efficient.

Which 2024 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the basics plus the standard 5.3-liter V8, but it also has the cloth seats and smaller 8-inch screen, so it is best if you want the lowest-cost way into the Suburban nameplate.
• LT: This is the trim to look at if you want a more balanced ownership experience, because it adds a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the expensive upper trims.
• RST: Choose this if you want a sportier appearance and still want access to the stronger available powertrain choices.
• Z71: This is the off-road-focused trim, and it is the one to consider if you want the most rugged character in the lineup.
• Premier: This is the best-value upscale trim if you want more luxury and access to advanced tech without going all the way to the top.
• High Country: This is the top-tier choice if you want the most premium presentation, the largest wheels, and the most available equipment, but it also leaves some desirable items as options.

The Premier and High Country can be equipped with Super Cruise through the Advanced Technology Package, and that package is a notable safety and convenience upgrade if you want hands-free driving capability on mapped roads.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Chevrolet Suburban?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and focused.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,081 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $56,156, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $56,156 sits slightly below last year's $64,233.

That drop suggests the market has moved in your favor if you are buying now, but it also means a future seller may face softer pricing than owners saw a year ago. If you plan to resell later, the Suburban’s value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and whether it has the equipment buyers want for towing and family use. The good news is that its utility-focused appeal should help it remain desirable among shoppers who need a full-size SUV.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-crash tests from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, front and rear park assist, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, and Chevy’s Teen Driver feature. Rear cross-traffic alert is available on lower trims and standard on higher ones.

Super Cruise is available on the Premier and High Country through the Advanced Technology Package, and it adds hands-free driving on mapped roads. The main caveat is the three-star rollover result, which is worth keeping in mind given the Suburban’s size and height.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.57% compared with last year.
• It delivers strong utility with a capable, capacious family-truckster setup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $63,434, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $56,156 average.
• It brings a major interior tech upgrade with a new touchscreen and driver display.

The bottom line: Buy the 2024 if you want the better value and can live with the older tech. If you care most about the latest cabin upgrades, the 2025 is the better path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2024.
