Used 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for Sale nearPortland, OR

How much does the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 7.50% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,084 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD earns a 4.3/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its strong performance, ride quality, and appearance, and they also like the range of options available. The main trade-off is that some shoppers feel it is overpriced, and others want more advanced features and technology. For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want a heavy-duty pickup with broad trim choice and strong capability rather than the most feature-rich cabin in the class.

Good and great deals account for 31.9% of listings, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels strong, dependable, and capable over time, with buyers repeatedly highlighting its performance and overall satisfaction. The expert drive notes also emphasize how well the diesel powertrain is matched to the transmission, with smooth shifts and quiet operation that support confidence in daily use. Chevrolet also backs the truck with a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the truck was used hard, since heavy-duty pickups can accumulate demanding miles and towing wear quickly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Focus on wear items that can reveal hard use, and pay close attention to the condition of the cabin, suspension, tires, and any added equipment. If you are shopping a higher trim, make sure the features you want are actually present, since some advanced safety and convenience items are not standard across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from Work Truck to High Country, with the off-road-specific ZR2 at the top of the capability side. The base truck is plain but still handsome, while higher trims add more upscale styling and materials, and the High Country brings the most premium cabin treatment. If you want the best value, the LT is the trim where the standard tech starts to feel much more modern.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 6.6-liter V8 with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, plus an available 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8 with 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Both pair with an Allison 10-speed automatic, and the diesel is the better pick if you want maximum muscle and quieter highway cruising.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front pedestrian braking, forward-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control is optional on all trims, so you should not assume it comes standard even on higher trims.
• Infotainment: Starting on the LT trim, you get a 12.3-inch configurable gauge cluster and a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Google built-in, Amazon Alexa, and a thoughtful menu layout.
• Fuel efficiency: In testing, the diesel returned 20.3 miles per gallon in 2WD driving and 17 mpg in mixed 2WD and Auto 4WD use.

Which 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is offered in 6 trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck: This is the most basic choice, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and plan to use the truck mainly as a tool. It is plain but still functional, and it is the trim to consider if you care more about capability than comfort.
• Custom: This trim adds a bit more visual polish with a body-colored grille bar, so it is a better fit if you want a little more style without moving too far up the price ladder.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it is where the truck’s tech starts to feel properly modern, including the larger digital displays and the standard 13.4-inch touchscreen. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• LTZ: This trim adds more upscale exterior treatment with a chrome-heavy look and is a good fit if you want a more premium appearance without going all the way to the top.
• High Country: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the most upscale cabin materials and the richest interior presentation. It suits you best if comfort and appearance matter as much as capability.
• ZR2: This is the off-road-specific trim, and it is the one to buy if you want the Silverado 2500HD’s most serious rough-terrain hardware. It is the clear pick for buyers who want maximum trail capability rather than a general-purpose heavy-duty truck.

Adaptive cruise control is optional across the lineup, even on the top trim.

If you find a listing below $54,124, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $54,124 sits slightly below last year's $58,511.

That price movement suggests the truck has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help support demand if you decide to sell later. A softer market today can also mean you may not recover as much as an early owner paid, especially if the truck is in a higher trim or diesel configuration. Even so, strong owner satisfaction helps keep interest alive among shoppers who want a capable heavy-duty pickup.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD safe?

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD has not yet been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include front pedestrian braking, forward-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a following distance indicator. GM’s Safety Seat is also notable, since it can alert you through the seat if traffic ahead suddenly slows. Adaptive cruise control is optional on all trims, so you should verify whether a used truck has it before you buy.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• This year’s refresh brings better styling and a new off-road trim, which makes it more appealing than the prior model year if you want a more modern look and stronger trail focus.

The bottom line: If you want the most current version of this heavy-duty truck, the 2024 is the better path because it combines softer pricing with a refreshed design and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is simply finding the lowest possible entry price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2024 gives you a stronger mix of value, equipment, and capability.
