Used 2024 BMW X5 for Sale nearMontgomery, AL

How much does the 2024 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,478 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 BMW X5 earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth hybrid performance, comfort, and impressive technology, and they also highlight hands-free driving and electric range as standout features. The X5’s broad powertrain lineup and premium cabin help it fit both daily commuting and more enthusiastic driving. The trade-offs are that voice recognition is poor and the model does not deliver especially strong value for money.

With its luxury midsize SUV packaging and available plug-in hybrid setup, it appeals if you want a practical family vehicle that still feels engaging behind the wheel. Good and great deals account for 34.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as smooth, comfortable, and impressive in everyday use, with several noting that it feels dependable and trouble-free in the ways that matter most for long-term ownership. The plug-in hybrid setup also adds a layer of efficiency that can make daily use feel easier to live with. BMW’s complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles and four years of roadside assistance helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this is still a premium SUV with complex technology, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with more advanced equipment. Focus on how the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and hybrid system behave in real-world use, since those are the areas most likely to affect your ownership experience. Pay close attention to tire and wheel condition as well, because larger wheel setups can raise replacement costs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5’s trim and package structure changes the look and feel quite a bit, and the M Sport treatment is not universally loved. Base versions can feel less richly equipped than higher-spec models, so you should compare equipment carefully before paying extra for appearance or convenience upgrades.
• Powertrain: You can choose from turbocharged inline-six, turbo-six plug-in hybrid, turbocharged V8, and higher-performance V8 setups. The plug-in hybrid stands out for its electric-only driving range and strong overall power output, while the six-cylinder models balance performance and efficiency well.
• Safety package: BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is available, and it works best in slow traffic or light highway traffic. It is not standard across the lineup, so you should confirm the exact equipment on the vehicle you’re considering.
• Infotainment: The X5 uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel paired with a 14.9-inch touchscreen, and it includes wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and over-the-air software updates. The system is feature-rich, but voice recognition is a weak point.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at about 22 mpg in combined driving once the gasoline engine is running, and it can deliver meaningful electric-only driving before that happens. In testing, it also returned 38.8 mpg on a mixed route.

Which 2024 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive40i: This is the entry point if you want the X5 experience at the lowest starting price. It gives you the core luxury-SUV formula, but you should compare it carefully against the xDrive40i if you want all-wheel drive.
• xDrive40i: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds BMW’s all-wheel-drive system while keeping the satisfying turbocharged six-cylinder setup. If you want the most balanced mix of price, traction, and everyday usability, this is the trim to focus on.
• xDrive50e: This is the one to buy if you want the most compelling blend of performance and efficiency. The plug-in hybrid setup delivers strong acceleration and useful electric-only range, making it the standout choice for buyers who can charge at home.
• M60i: This is the choice for buyers who want the V8 experience and stronger performance. It sits at the top of the regular lineup and is best suited to you if power matters more than value.

BMW’s Highway Assistant is available, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,478 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $50,740, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $50,740 sits slightly below last year's $56,109.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what a future seller can expect. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less room for depreciation pressure than someone who bought when prices were higher. Strong demand for well-equipped, well-kept examples should still support values better than average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 safe?

The 2024 X5 earns high ratings from the IIHS, although lower headlight ratings kept it from earning an IIHS safety award. It earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is available for 2024, and it works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode. The system can perform well in dense traffic and on light highway drives, and the available head-up display helps show driver-assistance status clearly. Still, the system can brake abruptly in some situations, and advanced safety features are not standard.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 update adds BMW Curved Display tech and Highway Assistant hands-free driving support.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $57,180, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $50,740 average.
• It mainly adds a limited-edition anniversary model.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and the more compelling used-market opportunity, the 2024 is the smarter pick. If you specifically want the newer model year and do not mind paying more for essentially the same SUV, the 2025 is the fallback.
