Used 2023 Volkswagen Jetta for Sale nearSan Bernardino, CA

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta cost?

Prices have softened 1.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,694 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

The Jetta’s appeal is rooted in its comfortable cabin, pleasant interior design, and ride-and-handling balance. It works well as a practical family sedan if you want something affordable and easy to live with rather than flashy.

The trade-offs are clear: styling is uninspired, and performance can feel sluggish. All-wheel drive is not available, so you should be comfortable with a front-drive setup.

With 37.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Jetta’s reliability case is helped by its comfortable, compliant ride and its straightforward family-car mission. Its base turbocharged engine is described as plenty for a front-drive car, and the car’s predictable handling and faithful brakes support everyday confidence.

You also get free scheduled maintenance for two years or 20,000 miles, plus roadside assistance for three years and 36,000 miles.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a well-kept example matters more than a neglected one, especially if you want to avoid drivability or wear-related headaches.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen Jetta?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, because the Jetta’s value proposition depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, Sport, SE, SEL, and GLI trims span the lineup, and the base model is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment. The SEL stands out for its upscale feel, larger screens, ambient lighting, genuine leather upholstery, and oversized power sunroof.
• Powertrain: The standard 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder makes 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. S and Sport trims use a six-speed manual, while SE and SEL use an eight-speed automatic; the automatic can feel delayed before the turbo comes on.
• Safety package: IQ.Drive is standard on SE and SEL, and it includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, while Emergency Assist can bring the car to a safe stop if the driver is unresponsive. Manual-transmission models do not offer all IQ.Drive features.
• Infotainment: SEL trim gets a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Car-Net adds connected services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and remote features.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA gas mileage rating for the Jetta SEL is 33 mpg in combined driving, and the review notes a 30 mpg average on a testing loop.

Which 2023 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 5 trim levels: S, Sport, SE, SEL, and GLI.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Jetta lineup. It gives you the core sedan experience, but you’ll miss out on the richer tech and comfort upgrades found higher up.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want a little more equipment without jumping too far up the price ladder. It keeps the Jetta’s practical formula intact while adding a more appealing feature mix than the base model.
• SE: This is the trim where the Jetta starts to feel more complete, especially because it gets IQ.Drive standard. If safety tech matters to you, this is the smart middle-ground choice.
• SEL: This is the trim to buy if you want the most upscale Jetta experience. It adds the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, the 8.0-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and a more premium cabin presentation.
• GLI: This is the performance-oriented choice, with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and retuned suspension. If you want the sportiest Jetta, this is the one to consider.

IQ.Drive is standard on SE and SEL, while manual-transmission models do not offer all IQ.Drive features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,694 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,485, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $19,435 sits slightly below last year's $19,681.

That softer pricing suggests the Jetta is holding value reasonably well, but not aggressively appreciating. If you plan to sell later, a clean, well-maintained example should be easier to position than one with visible wear or a rough service history.

The current market also shows a fairly tight year-round range, which can help support resale stability if your car is in strong condition. A trim with desirable equipment and a clean history should be easier to market when it’s time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta safe?

The 2023 Volkswagen Jetta earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, but it earns four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates it Poor in a new moderate overlap frontal-impact crash test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite is standard on SE and SEL, and it includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, while Emergency Assist can bring the car to a safe stop and activate the hazard flashers if the driver is unresponsive.

The main caveat is that the Jetta’s crash-test performance is not uniformly strong, especially in the IIHS moderate overlap frontal test. That makes a careful inspection and a strong vehicle-history report especially important when you shop used.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its comfortable cabin, balanced ride, and impressive safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,570, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $19,435 average.
• It offers a value-minded refresh with upgraded technology and more standard features.

The bottom line: If you want the better all-around shopping environment, the 2023 is the stronger pick because inventory is healthy, prices have eased, and the car’s comfort and safety strengths are easy to see. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the better budget path, especially if you’re willing to trade some of the 2023’s market advantages for a lower entry price.
