How much does the 2023 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 2.36% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 6,766 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfortable ride, good fuel economy, and reliable performance, and they also value its spacious interior and strong value for money. The overview frames it as a practical, family-friendly compact crossover with broad mainstream appeal, which fits the way shoppers tend to use it day to day. The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and less space than some competitors. Even so, 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliable performance, and owners also describe it as a vehicle they can count on for everyday use. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the RAV4 as dependable and practical, with a long-term usefulness angle that suits used buyers who want a low-drama ownership experience. Toyota also includes two years or 25,000 miles of no-cost maintenance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright reliability and more about finding a well-kept example with the right maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota RAV4?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a vehicle-specific check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible wear. Focus on condition, equipment, and maintenance records so you can separate a well-kept RAV4 from one that has simply been driven a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans six trims, from the sub-$30K LE to the Limited with ventilated seats. Base-trim shoppers should note that dual-zone climate control is not standard there, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the LE but standard starting with XLE.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. FWD is standard on most trims, while Adventure and TRD Off-Road are AWD by default.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, including Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam LED headlights, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection.
• Infotainment: An 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard, a 10.5-inch screen is available on Limited and TRD Off-Road, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system supports OTA updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The base LE gets 27 mpg city and 35 highway with FWD, while AWD drops highway mileage to 34. The Adventure trim is rated at 25 city, 33 highway, and 28 combined.

Which 2023 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core RAV4 formula at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you want the basics, standard safety tech, and the strongest value on paper.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful everyday convenience over the LE, including standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and dual-zone climate control.
• XLE Premium: This is the step up if you want a more upscale cabin, since it upgrades to SofTex upholstery and adds more comfort-focused equipment.
• Adventure: This trim leans into a tougher look and comes standard with AWD. It adds blacked-out styling details and a more rugged appearance, but the review makes clear it is more about image than true off-road ability.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the most capability-focused trim in the gas lineup, with AWD, all-terrain tires, and TRD-tuned suspension hardware. It is the one to consider if you want the most rugged setup in the range.
• Limited: This is the most upscale choice, with the 10.5-inch touchscreen standard and the most premium-feeling equipment in the lineup.

The safety package is strong across the range, but the LE is the trim where you will notice the most feature gaps.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting a fire sale.

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,766 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.36% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 85.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,901, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $29,559 sits slightly above last year's $28,876.

That year-over-year increase suggests the RAV4 continues to hold buyer interest well in the used market. A model with this kind of steady pricing usually benefits from broad appeal, especially when shoppers see it as practical and dependable. If you buy well and keep mileage and condition in check, you should have a solid chance of preserving value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 earns a Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam LED headlights, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the base LE and standard starting with XLE. The safety package is strong across the lineup, but the LE trim does leave some driver-assistance features as optional rather than standard.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.36% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It updates the infotainment system while keeping the familiar, well-liked RAV4 formula.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $26,882, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $29,559 average.
• It offers a roomy, flexible interior with efficient powertrains.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,543, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $29,559 average.
• It emphasizes dependable, practical ownership with gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid choices.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year balance of price, inventory, and updated tech, the 2023 is the cleanest pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play.
