How much does the 2023 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 3.11% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,744 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.65/5, and the expert rating is 7.17/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise the upscale interior, comfortable ride, and solid performance. The review summary also points to stylish design and good fuel economy for a full-size truck, which helps explain its broad appeal.

The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and the competition offers more technology. That matters if you want the newest driver aids or the most feature-rich cabin, but the 2023 RAM 1500 still fits well if you value comfort, refinement, and everyday usefulness in a full-size pickup.

With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to find a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary points to a truck that feels dependable, with praise centered on its comfortable ride, solid performance, and upscale cabin that owners seem happy to live with over time.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes smooth, confident driving manners and a powertrain that feels well matched to the truck’s mission. That kind of polished execution usually supports confidence in daily use and long-term ownership.

If you’re buying used, the biggest risk is less about the truck’s core character and more about how well a specific example was maintained and equipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. After that, prioritize a close inspection of the cabin, electronics, and any towing or driver-assist equipment, since feature content varies a lot by trim. It also helps to focus on overall condition, because higher-trim trucks can carry expensive options that you’ll want working properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited and TRX. Lower trims start with a small 5-inch infotainment screen, while mid trims typically use an 8.4-inch touchscreen; the Limited adds a more upscale cabin with leather, open-pore wood, and a 12-inch portrait-oriented screen. If you want the most polished interior, the Limited stands out, while the base trims are more work-focused.
• Powertrain: You can get rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with a 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque standard on lower trims, a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with eTorque optional on lower trims and standard on upper trims, and a 3.0-liter diesel available on all but the TRX. The TRX uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. The eTorque system adds short bursts of extra torque and helps fuel economy, while the V8 delivers strong off-the-line performance.
• Safety package: The truck does not come with standard advanced driver-assist systems across the board, and even automatic emergency braking is not standard. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are optional or bundled into packages. If you tow, the blind-spot system can extend coverage to the length of a trailer.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use a 5-inch screen, mid trims generally get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and upper trims can have a 12-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the upper trims can add a head-up display, digital rearview mirror, and surround-view camera system.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 4WD eTorque setup is rated at 17 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. The diesel is the efficiency standout at 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2023 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2023 RAM 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited and TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the least expensive path into the lineup, and it makes sense if you want a straightforward work truck rather than luxury features. It’s the trim to consider if price matters most and you’re comfortable starting with the basics.
• Tradesman HFE: Choose this if you want a more efficiency-focused version of the entry-level truck. It’s best for buyers who care more about operating costs than premium equipment.
• Big Horn/Lone Star: This is the value-oriented middle ground for shoppers who want more everyday comfort and convenience without jumping too far up the price ladder. It’s the best-value trim for many buyers because it balances equipment and cost.
• Laramie: Step here if you want a more upscale feel without going all the way to the luxury end of the lineup. It suits buyers who want a nicer cabin and more premium presentation.
• Rebel: This is the trim to consider if you want a more rugged personality and the off-road-oriented hardware described in the test-drive data. It’s the right fit if you want a truck with a tougher character.
• Limited Longhorn: Pick this if you want a more premium, Western-themed upscale truck with a richer interior presentation. It’s aimed at buyers who want comfort and style to matter as much as capability.
• Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with leather, open-pore wood, a 12-inch portrait-oriented screen, and available tech like a head-up display and surround-view camera system. If you want the most polished daily-driver experience, this is the trim to target.
• TRX: This is the extreme performance model, with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and specialized off-road hardware. It’s for buyers who want maximum power and a very different personality from the rest of the lineup.

Safety-package note: advanced driver-assist features are not standard, so you should check carefully for blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking on any specific truck.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,744 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,571, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $36,376 sits slightly below last year's $37,544.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has become a bit more buyer-friendly in the near term, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it means you may not see rapid appreciation, but a well-kept truck can still hold appeal because the model has strong demand and a premium reputation.

The current price range also shows that buyers are still willing to pay for the right example, especially if it’s clean, well equipped, and priced competitively. Trucks with desirable trims and strong condition should remain easier to move than rougher or poorly optioned examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2023 Ram 1500 earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it Good marks across the board except for Marginal grades for seat belt reminders and LATCH ease of use.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety story is mixed because the truck does well in crash testing, but it falls short on standard driver assistance. Nothing is standard across the board, not even automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are all optional or bundled into packages.

That means you should pay close attention to the exact safety equipment on any used example. If you want the most confidence, look for a truck that includes the available driver-assistance features rather than assuming they’re built in.

Should I buy a 2023 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds an available reconfigurable 12-inch gauge cluster and keeps the truck’s comfort-first, upscale character.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,049, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $36,376 average.
• It offers a well-rounded blend of comfort, utility, technology, and driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2023 is the stronger pick because it combines solid owner satisfaction, healthy inventory, and a softer price trend. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one in strong condition with the equipment you want.
