About 2023 Polestar 2
Polestar might not yet be a household name, but it is the electrified division of Volvo. Following the stunning Polestar 1 hybrid luxury coupe, the Polestar 2 is a fully electric high-riding sedan crossover. For 2023, the Polestar 2 gains a bit of range and is also offered in a new special edition. The Polestar 2 has 14.3 cubic feet of trunk space, which expands to 38.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. It’s offered in two trims, based on powertrain selection: Single-Motor and Dual-Motor. The Single-Motor trim comes standard with a hands-free power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, and Polestar Digital Key, which is a smartphone app. The Polestar 2 also comes standard with four USB ports, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system is an Android-based operating system, so it supports Android Auto. Thanks to an OTA (over-the-air) update last year, the Polestar 2 finally supports Apple CarPlay as well. The feature set for the Dual-Motor trim is largely the same, but it is available with a performance pack that adds unique design elements, Brembo front brakes, upgraded performance tires, and adjustable Ohlins dampers. In addition to these two trims, The Polestar 2 is now available in a limited BST Edition 270 trim. It also offers the adjustable Ohlins dampers, as well as unique 21-inch wheels and Pirelli P Zero tires, and it features a lowered suspension setup and a slight bump in output. Just 270 of these will be produced, and only 47 of them will be headed to the North American market. The Single-Motor Polestar 2 puts out 231 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque. It has a driving range of 270 miles, and it will get from zero to 60 mph in seven seconds. Power is routed to the front wheels. The all-wheel drive (AWD) Dual-Motor version has a range of 260 miles and will jump from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. It makes a combined 408 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. The BST Edition 270’s electric powertrain puts out an additional 15 pound-feet of torque. That’s 502 combined pound-feet of torque and 476 combined horsepower. The Polestar 2 features DC fast charging, which can bring the battery from empty to 80% in roughly 40 minutes. Using Level 2 charging, the Polestar 2 can be fully recharged in 8-12 hours. A host of driver-assistance technologies come standard on the Polestar 2, including forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The 2023 Polestar 2 has a base MSRP of $48,400. The Dual-Motor version starts at $51,900, which is $3,500 more than the base model. The Polestar 2 qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit. Its battery pack comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty.
