How much does the 2023 Nissan Versa cost?

Prices have softened 2.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,337 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Versa a good car?

The 2023 Nissan Versa earns a 7.3/10 expert rating, and the standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The Versa is positioned as a rare basic subcompact sedan that still makes a strong case for itself. It was freshened for 2023 with updated styling and more available tech, and the overview frames it as a budget-friendly car that does not feel stripped down. That makes it a sensible fit if you want style, efficiency, and low cost over flash.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the technology is outdated. Even so, the car’s value proposition is strong, especially if you want honest basic transportation rather than something more expensive or more complicated.

With 35.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Nissan Versa reliable?

The 2023 Nissan Versa is described as fuel-efficient and an excellent value for money, and its expert review also says it feels more substantial than subcompact-car stereotypes might suggest. The ride is comfortable, cabin noise is lower than expected, and the car’s handling and refinement feel a class above its segment.

Its powertrain is straightforward: a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive, paired with either a manual transmission or a CVT depending on trim. The expert review describes the engine output as satisfactory and the CVT as fairly responsive, which supports the idea that the Versa is built around simple, predictable everyday use rather than complexity.

Nissan also backs the car with three years or 36,000 miles of basic warranty coverage and five years or 60,000 miles of powertrain coverage. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s low-cost mission can show up in dated tech and modest performance, so condition and maintenance history matter more than chasing features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Versa?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean title percentage does not replace a proper inspection. Focus on wear items, interior condition, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you think you’re buying. If you want the newer tech features, make sure the listing actually includes them rather than assuming they were added.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Versa S is the most stripped-down version, with 15-inch steel wheels and fewer convenience features than the higher trims. The SV and SR add more equipment, and the SR brings heated front seats, automatic climate control, a center console with armrest, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
• Powertrain: All Versa models use a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive. The base S gets a five-speed manual, while the CVT is optional on the S and standard on the SV and SR.
• Safety package: The base Versa S includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning. The SV adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and the SR adds adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The base S has a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth phone connectivity and streaming audio, Siri Eyes Free, three USB ports, and keyless entry. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require the S Plus Package or moving up to the SV or SR; the SR adds an 8-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio, Wi-Fi hotspot, and NissanConnect Services.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA estimates are 27 mpg city and 35 mpg highway with the manual, or 32 mpg city and 40 mpg highway with the CVT.

Which 2023 Nissan Versa trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Versa is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, SR.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the most basic equipment. It includes the core safety tech and a 7-inch touchscreen, but you’ll need the S Plus Package if you want Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch driver information display, wireless phone charging, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• SR: This is the most feature-rich version, adding an 8-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio, Wi-Fi hotspot, NissanConnect Services, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The safety package is strongest as you move up the lineup, with the SR getting the most complete set of driver aids.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Versa?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,337 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,232, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Versa's resale value?

The current average of $15,544 sits slightly below last year's $15,934.

That tells you the Versa has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you as a buyer today. If you plan to sell later, the car’s value should still be supported by its low-cost positioning and broad appeal to budget shoppers, but you should not expect strong appreciation.

The good news for a future seller is that the Versa’s affordability and fuel efficiency keep it relevant. The downside is that modest performance and dated tech may limit how much premium the market will pay compared with newer or better-equipped alternatives.

Is the 2023 Nissan Versa safe?

The 2023 Nissan Versa earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side-impact crash testing and four-star ratings in the frontal and rollover categories.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Versa’s standard driver-assistance suite is a strong point for the class. The base S includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning, the SV adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and the SR adds adaptive cruise control.

One caveat is that the IIHS has not published updated safety ratings for this model year under its newer testing protocols. Older IIHS results were good, but the newer evaluation is not available here.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Versa or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.45% compared with last year.
• The 2023 model year brings freshened styling, more available tech features, and a new S Plus Package for the base trim.

The bottom line: The 2023 Versa is the right pick if you want the updated styling and expanded tech while still keeping costs low. If your priority is simply the cheapest possible used Versa, you can also shop older examples, but the 2023 gives you the most current version of this basic sedan’s formula.
