Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, safety features, fuel economy, comfortable ride, and modern technology. The Rogue’s design and family-friendly feel also fit its role as a compact crossover for everyday use.

The trade-offs are familiar: some drivers dislike the CVT’s loudness and occasional lack of power, and the vehicle’s value for money is questioned. The Rogue’s use case is strongest if you want a well-equipped compact SUV with comfort and safety at the center of the experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Rogue?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the transmission behavior, cabin electronics, and the condition of the interior and safety systems. Focus on whether the vehicle has been maintained well and whether its features work as expected, especially on higher-trim examples.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Rogue lineup includes S, SV, SL, and Platinum trim levels, and the SV, SL, and Platinum can be equipped with Premium packages. The SV also gets the exclusive Midnight Edition package, while Platinum adds upscale touches such as soft leather seating and more premium cabin materials.
• Powertrain: The Rogue uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with a CVT, and AWD is optional. It is tuned for responsive everyday driving and includes Eco, Auto, and Sport modes, with AWD models adding Off-Road and Snow modes.
• Safety package: Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, rear automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add ProPilot Assist with Navi-link, plus features such as a surround-view camera, lane-keeping assist, and a driver monitoring system.
• Infotainment: The Rogue uses an 8-inch standard touchscreen or an available 9-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay is available, Android Auto is wired, and NissanConnect services can add Wi-Fi hotspot access; Alexa Built-in is standard on Platinum.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle was expected to return 31 mpg in combined driving, and it averaged 28.9 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2023 Nissan Rogue trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Rogue is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the Rogue’s core safety and comfort basics at the lowest price. It gives you the standard equipment set without the added cost of the more upscale trims.
• SV: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and can be dressed up with the Midnight Edition package. It’s the trim to target if you want a balanced mix of features without jumping all the way to luxury-like pricing.
• SL: Move here if you want a more premium feel and access to additional equipment without going to the top trim. It’s the right step up if you want more comfort and convenience than the SV.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the most upscale Rogue, including Alexa Built-in and the richest cabin presentation. It’s the trim for you if technology and interior polish matter more than value.

Higher trims can also add ProPilot Assist with Navi-link, which is a useful safety and convenience upgrade.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Rogue?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,827 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,435, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $21,949 sits slightly below last year's $23,246.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also suggests the Rogue has already absorbed some depreciation. For a future seller, that means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the Rogue has broad appeal as a practical compact crossover, clean examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.31/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Rogue safe?

The 2023 Nissan Rogue earns a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It gets four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, rear automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add ProPilot Assist with Navi-link, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, along with available surround-view camera and other driver aids.

One caveat is that updated IIHS testing produced weaker results in the small overlap frontal-impact and side-impact evaluations, so you should pay close attention to the vehicle’s equipment level and overall condition when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.31/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds a Midnight Edition package for the SV and Alexa compatibility for Platinum.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $19,385, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $21,949 average.
• It brings the newer turbocharged engine and updated drivetrain.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $20,811, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $21,949 average.
• It adds refreshed styling and Google built-in apps.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current-year pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and broad inventory, the 2023 is the safer default choice. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the value play; if you want newer tech, the 2024 is worth a look.
