Used 2023 Nissan Altima for Sale nearCharlotte, NC

How much does the 2023 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 6,883 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10. Owners consistently praise its impressive fuel economy, comfortable daily-driving character, and quality audio system. The Altima also fits well if you want a straightforward midsize family sedan with simple technology and broad appeal rather than something flashy. On the downside, the expert review points to fairly pedestrian performance and a cabin that can feel cheap in places. It also notes that the Altima is more about comfort and efficiency than excitement. With 36.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market availability if you want to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on the car’s cost-effective fuel economy and everyday usability. The expert review reinforces that sense of durability by describing the CVT as one Nissan has been building for decades and saying it does a decent job of mimicking a traditional automatic. Nissan also includes an Easy Fill Tire Alert, which can make routine upkeep a little simpler. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright reliability and more about whether the car has been maintained well enough to avoid wear-related issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on visibility-related wear, interior condition, and how the car drives over rough pavement. If you are considering a higher-mileage example, pay close attention to how the transmission, brakes, and suspension feel in everyday use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim is the most stripped-down version, with a 5-inch display and very limited tech, while higher trims add a much more appealing cabin and stronger visual presence. The SV is the key step up if you want a more complete everyday setup, and the SL brings the most luxurious feel. The base trim’s equipment gaps make it the one most likely to feel barebones.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a CVT, while the SR VC-Turbo gets a more powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. The standard engine is adequate and the CVT is one of the better examples of its type, but the car is not especially lively. AWD is available only with the standard engine on SV, SR, and SL trims.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. Starting with SV, you also get rear automatic braking, while SR adds automatic high beams. ProPilot Assist is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo.
• Infotainment: The base S trim has a 5-inch display, Bluetooth streaming audio, and a hands-free text messaging assistant. SV and SR get an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is available on SV and SR and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo, with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: Official EPA fuel economy ratings range from 30 mpg to 32 mpg in combined driving, depending on wheel size and drivetrain. The turbocharged version is rated at 29 mpg combined, and the test vehicle averaged 27.4 mpg.

Which 2023 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Altima is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, SR VC-Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the cheapest way into the Altima, but it is also the most basic. You get the least impressive infotainment setup and miss out on the features that make the car feel modern, so it is best only if price is your top priority.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the more useful infotainment setup and unlocks important options like the larger touchscreen and AWD with the standard engine. It is the trim that makes the Altima feel properly equipped without pushing too far upmarket.
• SR: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a little more driver engagement, including paddle shifters. It also keeps the Altima in a practical price range while adding some extra personality.
• SL: This is the most luxurious standard-engine trim, with the best mix of comfort, tech, and upscale presentation. It is the right pick if you want the most polished Altima without moving to the turbo model.
• SR VC-Turbo: Pick this only if you want the most powerful Altima and are willing to pay for it. It adds the turbocharged engine and the most complete equipment list, but it is the least value-focused choice.

ProPilot Assist is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo, so those trims are the ones to target if you want the full driver-assistance setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,883 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,549, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $20,683 sits slightly above last year's $20,676.

That small increase suggests the Altima has held its value fairly steadily rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that is not rapidly weakening. The model’s broad appeal as a comfortable, efficient family sedan should also help keep demand reasonably consistent.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2023 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a five-star rollover resistance rating, though it receives four-star ratings for front passenger frontal impact safety. It also earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS for the 2022 calendar year, but the updated IIHS side-impact test gives it a Poor rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every version and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. Rear automatic braking starts with SV, and automatic high beams are added on SR. ProPilot Assist is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo, bringing adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist. The main caveat is the Poor IIHS side-impact result, which is worth weighing carefully if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings updated styling and a stronger 12.3-inch infotainment option.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,459, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,683 average.
• It offers broad trim and drivetrain choice with a sporty packaging update.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $19,852, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $20,683 average.
• It leans on value, standard safety tech, and an upgraded touchscreen on higher trims.

The bottom line: If you want the most current version of this sedan with updated styling and strong tech, the 2023 is the cleanest choice. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better bargain, while the 2024 is the sensible alternative if you want a newer model year at a lower average price.
