Used 2023 Mazda CX-50 for Sale nearKansas City, MO

How much does the 2023 Mazda CX-50 cost?

Prices have softened 6.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,976 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mazda CX-50 earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, quality interior, and strong performance, especially with the turbo engine. They also like the spacious cargo area and the sleek infotainment system. On the downside, some owners mention a stiff ride and hard seats, while the non-turbo engine is seen as less satisfying.

That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a compact crossover aimed at active lifestyles, with a design-forward personality and everyday practicality. The trade-off is that the infotainment system can be unintuitive, storage space is limited, and value can be a challenge.

With 40.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its quality interior and strong performance over time. Reviewers also describe it as a model you can count on for a satisfying ownership experience, especially if you value the turbo engine and overall polish.

The expert drive notes also support that impression, describing reliable towing capability and strong powertrain cooling. Mazda’s maintenance coverage adds another ownership perk: the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific vehicle has been cared for well enough to avoid expensive surprises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, because accident-free listings are not the same as problem-free vehicles. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the ride quality, seat comfort, and infotainment operation, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day satisfaction. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance records, especially if you’re considering a turbo model or a higher-mileage example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.5 S starts with an 8.8-inch display, while other trims get a larger 10.25-inch screen. The most expensive trim adds the most advanced driver-assistance hardware, so base versions leave some convenience and safety tech on the table.
• Powertrain: The 2.5 S uses a 187-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder with all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic, while the 2.5 Turbo adds stronger acceleration and more towing capacity. Mazda expects the base engine to return 27 mpg in combined driving, while the turbo is predicted at 25 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Mazda Connect includes a generous standard package of driving assistance systems, and the top trim adds Traffic Jam Assist, active blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors with reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system. Those upgrades are limited to the most expensive trim.
• Infotainment: Every CX-50 gets Mazda Connect with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and Mazda Connected Services. The base trim has an 8.8-inch display, while other trims get a 10.25-inch display, and touchscreen control is available for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: Mazda predicts 27 mpg combined for the base engine and 25 mpg combined for the turbo. In testing, the turbo averaged 23.4 mpg.

Which 2023 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 10 trim levels: 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Preferred Plus, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 S Premium Plus, 2.5 S Meridian Edition, 2.5 Turbo, 2.5 Turbo Premium, 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus, 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5 S Select: This is the entry point if you want the CX-50’s style, standard all-wheel drive, and wireless smartphone integration without stretching the budget. It gives you the core experience, but you give up the larger display and the richer equipment found higher up.
• 2.5 S Preferred: This is the best-value starting point for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without jumping into turbo pricing. If you want the CX-50’s design and everyday usability with a better equipment balance, this is the trim to focus on.
• 2.5 S Preferred Plus: Choose this if you want a little more content than the Preferred trim and still want to stay on the non-turbo side of the lineup. It’s a sensible middle ground if you’re shopping for features rather than outright performance.
• 2.5 S Premium: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for it. It makes the CX-50 feel more complete, but the value equation gets less compelling as you move up.
• 2.5 S Premium Plus: This is the most luxurious non-turbo choice, and it suits you if you want the richest 2.5 S experience without stepping into the turbo models. It’s a good fit if comfort and equipment matter more than acceleration.
• 2.5 S Meridian Edition: This is the outdoorsy-looking non-turbo choice, and it’s aimed at buyers who want the CX-50’s adventurous styling with added trail-ready flair. It stands apart with its unique appearance and utility touches.
• 2.5 Turbo: Pick this if you want the stronger engine and the more satisfying driving experience. It’s the right move if acceleration matters to you more than maximizing fuel economy.
• 2.5 Turbo Premium: This is the turbo trim to consider if you want stronger performance plus a more upscale feature set. It’s a good fit for buyers who want the turbo engine without going all the way to the top.
• 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus: This is the most fully equipped version and the one to buy if you want the most advanced safety and convenience features. It’s the top choice for shoppers who want the best-equipped CX-50.
• 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition: Choose this if you want the turbo powertrain with the Meridian’s more rugged personality. It’s the most lifestyle-focused version of the turbo lineup.

The safety package is generous across the lineup, but the most advanced features are reserved for the top trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-50?

This is a favorable time to shop because pricing has softened and deal availability is solid.

• Deal availability: 40.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,976 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,967, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $25,967 sits slightly below last year's $27,683.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the earlier average. The current trend also means resale value will depend heavily on trim, mileage, and condition rather than broad market momentum alone.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda gives the CX-50 a generous standard package of driver-assistance systems, and the most advanced features are reserved for the top trim. Those top-trim upgrades include Traffic Jam Assist, active blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors with reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the adaptive cruise control showed a notable weakness in heavier traffic, where it failed to recognize a vehicle cutting into the gap ahead. That means you should still stay alert even with the driver-assistance systems engaged.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 40.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It launches the CX-50 with a stylish, adventure-leaning design and standard advanced safety features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,696, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $25,967 average.
• It adds a more rugged, outdoorsy positioning with standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2023 is the smarter buy because pricing is softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a slightly more rugged identity, the 2024 is the alternative to consider.
