Is the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating, which points to a vehicle that delivers strongly in the areas it was built to emphasize. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The design is stylish and the engine is powerful, and the SUV’s off-road capability is one of its defining strengths. At the same time, the road manners do not fully match the sporty promise, since the handling is underwhelming and the vehicle does not challenge the best on-road luxury performance SUVs.

The trade-offs are clear: you get impressive capability and a distinctive presence, but you also give up some driving polish and rear-seat space. If you want a luxury SUV that feels most at home away from pavement, this model year fits that use case well.

38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is meaningful room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Range Rover Sport is built around a refined, capable platform with a standard adaptive damping air suspension and a strong off-road toolkit, which supports the sense that it is engineered for demanding use. Its performance setup also includes a turbocharged inline-six, and the plug-in hybrid version adds electric driving range for buyers who want a more efficient ownership experience.

The dependability story is helped by the SUV’s broad capability and the fact that Land Rover positions it as a premium, highly engineered model. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that its advanced systems and luxury hardware can make ownership more complicated if prior maintenance or condition has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with advanced electronics, suspension hardware, and multiple driver-assistance systems. Focus on overall condition, because the back seat is cramped and the technology can be frustrating, so you want to make sure the specific vehicle you choose is free of wear, faults, or unresolved issues.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE P360, SE Dynamic P400, and Autobiography P440e each bring different equipment levels, and the test vehicle’s added features show how quickly comfort and convenience content can stack up. The base setup is the one most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about luxury touches and convenience upgrades.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six comes in different states of tune, with the SE P360 making 355 hp and 369 lb-ft and the SE Dynamic P400 making 395 hp and 406 lb-ft. The Autobiography P440e plug-in hybrid adds 434 hp, 406 lb-ft, and an estimated 51 miles of electric driving range.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera system, ClearSight Ground View, Wade Sensing, Terrain Response, All Terrain Progress Control, hill start assist, and hill descent control. Remote Park Assist is available.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 13.7-inch digital instrument display and a 13.1-inch touchscreen with haptic feedback. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Amazon Alexa compatibility, SiriusXM satellite radio, and connected services through the Online Pack.
• Fuel efficiency: The P400 drivetrain is rated at 21 mpg combined, and the plug-in hybrid is described as offering an estimated 51 miles of electric driving range.

Which 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport trim should I buy?

The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is offered in 3 trim levels: SE P360, SE Dynamic P400, and Autobiography P440e.

Here's the short version:

• SE P360: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Range Rover Sport experience with the turbocharged inline-six and the model’s standard luxury and capability hardware. It makes sense if you want the nameplate and the off-road ability without stretching into the pricier trims.
• SE Dynamic P400: This is the best-value trim because it adds more power and the richer equipment mix seen on the test vehicle, including comfort and convenience upgrades that make the SUV feel more complete. If you want the sweet spot between performance and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Autobiography P440e: This is the choice if you want the plug-in hybrid powertrain and the longest electric-driving capability in the lineup. It suits you best if you can charge regularly and want the most advanced efficiency-focused version.

Safety content notes that the SUV includes a broad standard driver-assistance suite, while Remote Park Assist is available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough pricing softness to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,184 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.35% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $62,233, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport's resale value?

The current average of $62,233 sits slightly below last year's $71,820.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure future resale if you buy at the wrong price. If you plan to sell later, the key will be entering ownership at a sensible number and keeping the vehicle in strong condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport safe?

The 2023 Range Rover Sport earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Land Rover equips it with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system with ClearSight Ground View. Wade Sensing is standard, too, and Remote Park Assist is available.

The main caveat is that the adaptive cruise control with steering assist was not especially smooth or trustworthy in testing, and the steering assist could be frustrating on freeway curves and in messy lane markings. That means you should treat the driver-assistance tech as helpful support, not something you can fully rely on to reduce workload.

Should I buy a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model year stands out for its powerful engine, stylish design, and excellent off-road capability, even if its on-road handling and technology are less impressive.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right pick if you want the Range Rover Sport’s core appeal: style, power, and real off-road ability. If your priority is the lowest possible purchase price, you may want to shop nearby years as well, but the 2023 offers a compelling mix of market softness and strong equipment for buyers who value capability over pavement performance.
