Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L a good car?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L earns a 7.2/10 expert rating, and the model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

It’s aimed at you if you want a full-size luxury SUV with an extended body, a decadently outfitted cabin, strong road manners, and plenty of cargo space for family duty and long-distance travel. The trade-offs are a high price, turbo lag, and a tech experience that can feel frustrating.

Cons: High price, turbo lag, and a dissatisfying tech user experience.

With 36.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L reliable?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L is presented as a luxury SUV with a powerful engine, a comfortable ride, and a cabin built for long-distance use, which are all encouraging signs for everyday ownership. Its performance notes also point to a smooth, quiet, and refined twin-turbo inline-six, and the vehicle’s standard equipment and capability suggest a well-developed package.

Jeep also includes a Client Services package, which adds some ownership support value. Even so, the tech-heavy cabin and the complexity of the vehicle mean you should expect a learning curve and pay close attention to how well the systems work during a test drive.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is that a complicated luxury SUV can become expensive to live with if prior maintenance or electronics have been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re considering, even if it looks clean on paper. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and suspension behavior, since this is a tech-rich luxury SUV with a lot of systems to check. Focus on overall condition, because the Grand Wagoneer L’s value depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes a base model, Series II, and Series III, with Obsidian available on Series II and Series III. The base model is the entry point, while the higher trims add more luxury equipment and a more upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: You get a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive. Jeep also says towing capacity is 9,450 pounds.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist is the named driver-assistance system, and it pairs adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Active Lane Management. It requires you to keep your hands on the steering wheel, and the vehicle also includes Intersection Collision Assist, Night Vision with pedestrian and animal detection, and automatic parking.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with wireless smartphone charging, navigation, Amazon Alexa integration, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth for two devices, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: Jeep says the Grand Wagoneer L averaged 17.1 mpg in testing, with an official estimate of 17 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L is offered in 3 trim levels: base model, Series II, and Series III.

Here's the short version:

• base model: This is the entry point if you want the Grand Wagoneer L experience without stepping up to the pricier trims. It still gives you the core luxury-SUV formula, but you’ll want to compare equipment carefully against the higher trims because the lineup is built around escalating luxury and convenience.
• Series II: This is the trim to focus on if you want a stronger balance of equipment and value. It sits above the base model and can be had with Obsidian, which adds a blacked-out appearance.
• Series III: This is the most fully equipped version and the best fit if you want the richest cabin and the most upscale presentation. It’s the trim that best matches the Grand Wagoneer L’s luxury-first mission, though it also carries the highest price.

The safety package includes Active Driving Assist, but it requires hands on the wheel rather than offering hands-free driving.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 511 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.29% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $48,253, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L's resale value?

The current average of $48,265 sits slightly below last year's $59,067.

That drop suggests the market has moved in your favor if you’re buying now, but it also means a future seller may face more price pressure than owners did a year ago. If you plan to resell later, condition and equipment will matter a lot, because well-kept examples should stand out more clearly in a market where prices have already softened. For you, that makes buying the right trim and keeping the vehicle in strong shape especially important.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L safe?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep loads the Grand Wagoneer L with standard and available safety features, including Intersection Collision Assist, Night Vision with pedestrian and animal detection, and automatic parking for parallel and perpendicular spaces. Active Driving Assist is the main driver-assistance suite, but it requires you to keep your hands on the wheel and does not offer hands-free highway driving.

That hands-on limitation is the main caveat if you’re comparing it with rivals that offer hands-free systems. The system is useful, but it doesn’t match the convenience of the best highway-assist setups.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.29% compared with last year.
• The 2023 stands out as a full-size luxury SUV with a powerful engine, a comfortable ride, and a cabin that’s richly outfitted for long-distance family use.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of luxury, capability, and current market value, the 2023 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for lower-mileage or better-equipped examples, since the market has softened enough to create opportunities without forcing you to compromise too much on trim or condition.
