Used 2023 GMC Canyon for Sale nearMontgomery, AL

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.63% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,019 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2023 GMC Canyon earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the Canyon’s luxurious interior, solid performance, easy driving character, and stylish design. The overview also points to a more upscale feel and a truck that’s aimed at buyers who want all the bells and whistles.

The trade-offs are clear: the price is high for a used truck, advanced safety features are not standard, and there are fewer available configurations than before. That makes it a stronger fit if you want a premium midsize truck experience rather than the lowest-cost path into the segment.

Only 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than especially bargain-heavy.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels solid, dependable, and easy to live with over time. That same theme shows up in the expert driving notes, which describe the Canyon as having a feeling of solidity rare in body-on-frame vehicles and a powertrain that works well together.

GMC also backs the truck with a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying premium-truck money for a model that can still be expensive to keep if you want the higher trims and options.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re considering, even if the market looks clean overall. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re shopping for a higher-trim truck or one with off-road equipment, since those features can see harder use. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the truck’s equipment matches how you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Canyon lineup skips some entry-level features found on the related Colorado, which helps create a more premium feel but also raises the price. The Denali brings the nicest interior materials, while the AT4X adds the most dramatic off-road character and the most aggressive hardware.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is limited to the base Elevation, while 4WD is optional on Elevation and standard on Denali and AT4.
• Safety package: The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Elevation and AT4 can add rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, and a surround-view camera through optional packages; those features are standard on Denali and AT4X.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes an 11.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming audio, and Google Built-In. Elevation and AT4 get an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, while Denali and AT4X upgrade to an 11-inch cluster and add a 6.3-inch head-up display plus wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The base RWD Elevation is rated at 20 mpg combined (18 city/23 highway). With 4WD, the Elevation, AT4, and Denali are rated at 19 mpg combined (17 city/21 highway), while the AT4X is rated at 18 mpg combined (17 city/20 highway).

Which 2023 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, Denali, AT4, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, but it still gets the core tech and the standard safety package. It’s the best-value choice if you want the Canyon’s upscale design and powertrain without paying for the luxury or off-road upgrades.
• AT4: This is the smart pick if you want a more capable, adventure-ready setup without going all the way to the most extreme model. It adds a two-speed transfer case and a more rugged personality, making it a strong middle ground.
• Denali: This is the trim to choose if you care most about comfort and a more premium cabin. It adds the nicest interior materials, standard 4WD, and more of the convenience and safety equipment buyers expect at this price.
• AT4X: This is the one for you if off-road capability is the priority. It adds front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic spool-valve dampers, and Baja drive mode, making it the most serious Canyon in the lineup.

The standard safety package is good, but some of the more advanced driver-assistance features remain optional on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,019 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,444, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $38,444 sits slightly below last year's $41,174.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon has become a little easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you pay close to the current average, you may have less room to absorb depreciation later. On the other hand, a well-kept truck bought near the low end of the range should be easier to position competitively when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Crash-test ratings from IIHS and NHTSA were not available for the freshly redesigned Canyon at the time of publication.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Elevation and AT4 can add rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, and a surround-view camera through optional packages. Those features are standard on Denali and AT4X, along with a Safety Alert Seat.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you’ll want to check carefully before assuming a used truck has the driver aids you want.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more upscale feel, stronger tech, and a more premium positioning than the outgoing truck.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $30,085, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,444 average.
• It offers a broader trim lineup and a more budget-friendly entry point.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $39,637, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,444 average.
• It adds an even more serious off-road package and a stronger standard-equipment story.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Canyon’s upscale cabin, strong tech, and premium feel, the 2023 is the right target. If price matters most, the 2022 is the better value play. If you want the most capability and don’t mind paying more, the 2024 is the stronger upgrade path.
