Used 2023 GMC Canyon for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,977 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2023 GMC Canyon earns a 4.6/5 user rating, and its expert rating is 7.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious interior, solid performance, easy driving character, and stylish design. The Canyon’s upscale positioning also fits buyers who want a more premium midsize truck experience, while the AT4X especially stands out for its off-road appeal. On the trade-off side, the price is high for a used truck, advanced safety features are not standard, and there are fewer configurations than before. That makes it a better fit if you value comfort, tech, and a more upscale feel over bargain pricing or maximum variety.

Only 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels solid, dependable, and easy to live with over time, with repeated praise for its comfortable cabin and strong day-to-day usability. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Canyon’s solid build quality and good on-road livability, which supports confidence in regular ownership. GMC’s warranty coverage includes a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds some reassurance for used buyers.

For a used purchase, the main long-term risk is paying premium-truck money for a vehicle that still has limited value headroom.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a truck with off-road use or higher mileage. Focus on condition, equipment completeness, and whether the truck has the features you want, since some important driver-assistance items are not standard on every trim. If you’re shopping the more capable versions, pay extra attention to underbody wear, tire condition, and signs of hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X each bring a different mix of appearance, comfort, and capability. The base Elevation skips some of the Chevy’s entry-level features, while the Denali adds a chrome grille, mirror accents, side steps, 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, and laser-etched open-pore wood trim. The AT4X is the most serious off-road version, with a three-inch lift and a more rugged interior treatment.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is limited to the base Elevation, while 4WD is optional on Elevation and standard on Denali and AT4X; the AT4 adds a two-speed transfer case, and the AT4X adds front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud-terrain tires, and Baja drive mode.
• Safety package: The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and rear park assist are added by the optional Safety Plus Package on Elevation and AT4, while adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera require the Technology Package on those trims. Those features are standard on Denali and AT4X.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google Built-In. The digital instrument cluster measures 8 inches on Elevation and AT4 and 11 inches on Denali and AT4X. Denali and AT4X also add a 6.3-inch head-up display and wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The base RWD Elevation is rated at 20 mpg combined (18 mpg city, 23 mpg highway). With 4WD, the Elevation, AT4, and Denali are rated at 19 mpg combined (17 mpg city, 21 mpg highway), while the AT4X returns 18 mpg combined (17 mpg city, 20 mpg highway).

Which 2023 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Canyon’s core design, strong powertrain, and standard tech without paying for the higher-end luxury or off-road extras. It’s the best-value starting point if you’re mainly after the upscale Canyon experience and can live without the richer equipment on the upper trims.
• AT4: This is the smart pick if you want a more capable all-terrain setup without jumping all the way to the most expensive model. It adds a more rugged character and stronger off-road hardware than the Elevation, making it the best fit for buyers who want capability to matter as much as comfort.
• Denali: This is the trim to choose if you want the most premium cabin feel and the richest standard equipment. It adds the nicest interior materials, more chrome detailing, larger displays, a head-up display, wireless charging, and standard 4WD, so it suits you if luxury matters more than price.
• AT4X: This is the most serious off-road Canyon, with the highest ground clearance, electronic lockers, skid plates, mud-terrain tires, and specialized dampers. Choose it if you want the most capable version and are willing to pay for it.

The Safety content also notes that the standard driver-assistance package is not as comprehensive as the higher-trim equipment, so if safety tech matters most, look closely at Denali or AT4X.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with patience but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,977 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,241, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $38,241 sits slightly below last year's $41,054.

That decline suggests the Canyon has already absorbed some of its recent price adjustment, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right point. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The truck’s premium positioning can support demand, but its higher starting prices also mean resale performance will depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is at least available with the same driver-assist features that have become the norm for cars—but some key features aren't standard.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. On Elevation and AT4, the optional Safety Plus Package adds rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and rear park assist. To get adaptive cruise control on those trims, you need the Technology Package, which also adds a rear pedestrian alert feature and surround-view camera system. Those features are standard on Denali and AT4X, along with a Safety Alert Seat.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more upscale cabin, stronger tech, and a more capable AT4X.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,881, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,241 average.
• It offers a broader trim and powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $39,495, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,241 average.
• It adds an AEV package with even more off-road hardware.

The bottom line: If you want the newest redesign and the strongest mix of tech, comfort, and capability, the 2023 is the better target. If price matters most, the 2022 is the value play; if you want the most extreme off-road setup, the 2024 is the step up to watch.
