Is the 2023 Dodge Hornet a good car?

The 2023 Dodge Hornet earns an 7.8/10 from our experts, and its appeal is rooted in a compact-utility package with more power, attitude, and in-crowd fun than you usually get in this class.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

It also brings useful everyday strengths, including standard all-wheel drive and easy-to-use technology, while its styling gives it a more distinctive presence. On the cost side, Dodge positions it as a premium-feeling compact utility vehicle rather than a bargain-basement choice.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a more complex, feature-rich vehicle can be costlier to live with if prior maintenance was neglected.

• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.26% compared with last year.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $22,075, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $21,614 average.
• It adds a plug-in hybrid powertrain option.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and the original version of the Hornet’s formula, the 2023 is the smarter starting point. If you’re willing to pay a bit more for the newer model’s plug-in hybrid option, the 2024 is the better path for efficiency-minded shopping.
