The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfort, and easy-to-use technology, and they also like the heated seats, safety tech, and roomy feel. The Trailblazer’s straightforward personality and everyday usefulness fit well if you want an affordable small SUV that does not try to be oversized or overly complicated. Is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer reliable?

The expert review also points to a solid, easy-to-live-with character, and the powertrain lineup is built around small, efficiency-focused engines. Chevy’s three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty add some ownership reassurance.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is more about drivability and feature content than basic durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter in a small SUV: transmission behavior, tire wear, interior wear, and whether the equipment you want is actually present. If you want advanced driver assistance or nicer convenience features, make sure they are included on the specific vehicle you are considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Activ and RS trims add more distinctive styling than the base LS, while the LT sits in the middle with a more conventional setup. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about appearance or extra equipment.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, or an optional 1.3-liter turbo-three with 155 hp and 174 lb-ft. Front-wheel-drive models use a CVT, while all-wheel-drive models use a nine-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are optional, so check carefully for those features.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. An 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, a Bose audio system, rear-seat USB ports, wireless charging, and a 4.2-inch instrument cluster screen are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings are 30 mpg combined for the 1.2-liter FWD model, 31 mpg combined for the 1.3-liter FWD model, and 28 mpg combined for the 1.3-liter AWD model. The expert test car averaged 25 mpg over a week.

Which 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer trim should I buy?

The 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LS, LT, Activ, RS.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes the Trailblazer affordable, but you give up the richer appearance and extra equipment that make the higher trims more appealing.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to the 1.3-liter engine and AWD, giving you more flexibility without jumping all the way to the pricier trims.
• Activ: This is the right pick if you want the more rugged look, the model-specific front fascia, roof rails, and chunkier tires. It also brings the gravel-road-tuned dampers and a more distinctive cabin presentation.
• RS: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance, with blacked-out trim, a mesh grille, dual exhaust outlets, and the optional panoramic sunroof.

Safety equipment is not fully standard, so check the specific vehicle for optional driver-assistance features before you buy.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,152 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,927, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer's resale value?

The current average of $20,927 sits slightly below last year's $22,124.

That decline suggests the Trailblazer has become more buyer-friendly in the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than broad market momentum alone. Well-equipped examples with strong presentation and clean history should be easier to move than stripped or worn ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.91/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer safe?

The 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer was named a 2022 Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS and earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in the frontal and side crash-test categories, and four-star ratings in rollover crash testing.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are optional, so you should confirm whether a given used example has them. The standard halogen headlights were only rated “Average,” while the optional LED headlights earned a “Good” score.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.91/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines affordable pricing, easy-to-use tech, and a practical small-SUV layout.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $18,835, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,927 average.
• It adds a heated steering wheel and new paint choices.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $22,561, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $20,927 average.
• It improves the Trailblazer’s overall polish with stronger space, style, and ease-of-use appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and market availability, the 2023 is the smart default. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is worth a look; if you want a slightly more polished feel and can spend more, the 2024 is the better upgrade path.
