What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Cadillac XT5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any XT5 you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a luxury SUV like this, where trim content, ride quality, and option packages can vary a lot from one example to the next. Focus on overall condition, service records, and whether the features you want were actually added when new.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is intuitively laid out, offers good space across both rows, and includes synthetic leather upholstery as standard. Top trims like the XT5 Premium Luxury add genuine leather, heated front and rear seats, and a heated steering wheel, while the base setup is more straightforward.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while an available V6 produces 310 hp and 271 lb-ft. The base engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the V6 is the more appropriate choice if you want stronger all-around performance.
• Safety package: Standard safety tech includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front and rear parking sensors, following distance indicator, lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning, front pedestrian braking, a vibrating safety alert seat, and a rear-seat reminder. Cadillac’s Driver Assist Package adds adaptive cruise control, automatic seatbelt tightening during emergency braking, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic braking, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available separately.
• Infotainment: Cadillac’s CUE system uses an 8-inch touchscreen and includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, dual-zone climate controls, a rotary controller, voice control, wireless charging, navigation, and an available Bose premium audio system with 14 speakers.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo-four with front-wheel drive is rated at 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The V6 with all-wheel drive is rated at 18/25/21 mpg city/highway/combined.

Which 2023 Cadillac XT5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Cadillac XT5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Luxury: This is the entry point, and it gives you the XT5’s core strengths: a spacious cabin, intuitive controls, standard synthetic leather upholstery, and the same basic luxury-SUV formula that makes the model appealing. It makes sense if you want the XT5’s style and comfort without stretching for extras.
• Premium Luxury: This is the best-value trim. It adds the kind of comfort upgrades many shoppers actually notice every day, including genuine leather, heated front and rear seats, and a heated steering wheel, while avoiding the Sport trim’s higher price. If you want the sweet spot in the lineup, this is the one to target.
• Sport: This trim is for shoppers who want the most upscale and aggressive version of the XT5, but the available information here emphasizes added cost more than a major performance leap. It is the trim to consider if you want the top-end look and equipment and are willing to pay for it.

Cadillac also offers a Driver Assist Package with adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic braking, so check whether the example you’re considering has that package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Cadillac XT5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,782 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,168, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Cadillac XT5's resale value?

The current average of $31,718 sits slightly below last year's $33,148.

That decline suggests the XT5 has softened enough to create a more buyer-friendly entry point today. For a future seller, that means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment, because the market is already showing some downward pressure.

The XT5’s appeal as a comfortable, stylish luxury SUV should help it remain desirable, especially among shoppers who prioritize space and value. But because it is not the most exciting or newest-feeling option in the segment, strong upkeep will matter if you want to protect your exit price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.92/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Cadillac XT5 safe?

The 2021 Cadillac XT5 missed a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, earned top “Good” scores in all crash test areas, and received a “Marginal” score for its headlights.

It earns five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front and rear parking sensors, following distance indicator, lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning, front pedestrian braking, a vibrating safety alert seat, and a rear-seat reminder. Cadillac’s Driver Assist Package adds adaptive cruise control, automatic seatbelt tightening during emergency braking, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic braking.

One caveat to keep in mind is the headlight result, which is weaker than the rest of the XT5’s crash performance. You should also check whether the example you’re considering has the optional driver-assistance features you want, since some are not standard.

Should I buy a 2023 Cadillac XT5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.92/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 XT5 offers a spacious cabin, strong value, and a polished luxury feel without demanding as much money as some rivals.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,103, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $31,718 average.
• It carries over with minimal changes and still emphasizes comfort, upscale features, and familiar luxury-SUV appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market mix of inventory, pricing, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the stronger pick. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable with a very similar overall formula, the 2022 is the smarter value play.
