The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is an all-new electric midsize crossover from the American luxury brand. It rides on the new GM BEV3 (for “battery electric vehicle”) platform that will be shared with the upcoming Chevy Blazer EV (electric vehicle), Chevy Equinox EV, and, interestingly enough, the forthcoming Honda Prologue EV. The Lyriq has a rakish exterior design with one of the most expressive takes on the Cadillac styling language. The low-slung crossover design provides up to 60.8 cubic feet of total cargo space and 28 cubic feet with the rear seats in use. The Lyriq’s dash is dominated by a massive 33-inch screen that spans the majority of the dash. It encompasses both the instrument panel and the infotainment screen and can emit over 1 billion colors. The Lyriq comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels (22-inch wheels are optional), a smartphone-based digital key, active noise cancellation, and a 19-speaker AKG premium stereo system. It also comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Lyriq features a 100-kWh battery pack routing electricity to a single rear motor at the rear wheels. It makes 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. This model will be followed by a dual-motor version with even more power and torque. The initial model can travel up to 312 miles on a single charge, and it features DC fast-charging capability. This means it can add up to 76 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging. Level-2 charging will add between 31 and 52 miles of range per hour, depending on the charger. A drive-mode system manages the electric powertrain and chassis, with Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice, and MyMode (custom) settings. The Lyriq also features the ability for one-pedal driving, which optimizes regenerative braking while offering a unique driving experience. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection. Optional driver assistance features include lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. The Lyriq is also available with Super Cruise, Cadillac’s advanced hands-free driving system. Base MSRP for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is $62,990 in the initial single-motor model. A free lifetime warranty has been announced for initial purchasers of the Lyriq, covering the vehicle and EV components. Unfortunately, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq has completely sold out, but Cadillac is already taking orders for the 2024 edition of the EV.
