Used 2023 Buick Encore GX for Sale near Washington

How much does the 2023 Buick Encore GX cost?

Prices have softened 5.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,183 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Buick Encore GX earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, compact size, and good value for the money. The user feedback also points to strong safety features and agreeable handling, while the expert review highlights plenty of cargo space and easy-to-use technology.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and fuel economy is poor. For you, that means the Encore GX makes the most sense if you want a small crossover that feels easy to live with rather than especially quick or efficient.

With 38.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience overall, with drivers highlighting comfort, safety features, and good value. The expert review also describes the Encore GX as a straightforward, easygoing small crossover that should be easy to count on for everyday use.

Buick’s warranty coverage is standard rather than exceptional, so long-term ownership risk is more about maintenance and condition than any standout protection from the brand.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Buick Encore GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, especially signs of wear that could affect comfort, electronics, or braking.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Preferred is the most affordable way in, but it leaves you with a simpler feature set than the higher trims. The Essence brings the most upscale cabin presentation, including leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a 10-way power driver’s seat, and an eight-way power front passenger seat.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 1.2-liter turbo-three with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque or a 1.3-liter turbo-three with 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available with the 1.3-liter engine.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Adaptive cruise control, automatic park assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a 360-degree camera system, and a rearview camera mirror are available in option packages.
• Infotainment: Every model gets an 8-inch touchscreen, a 4.2-inch driver information display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and two front USB ports. Built-in navigation, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.3-liter front-wheel-drive setup is rated at 30 mpg combined, 29 mpg city, and 32 mpg highway. The 1.2-liter front-wheel-drive version is also rated at 30 mpg combined and 29 mpg city, but at 31 mpg highway. All-wheel-drive 1.3-liter models are rated at 27 mpg combined, 26 mpg city, and 29 mpg highway.

Which 2023 Buick Encore GX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Buick Encore GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Select, Essence.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler setup. It still gives you the core infotainment and safety equipment, but it’s the trim most likely to feel basic compared with the others.
• Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits in the middle and should give you a better balance of equipment and price than the base model. If you want a more complete everyday experience without jumping all the way to the top trim, this is the one to focus on.
• Essence: This is the most upscale choice, with the richest interior presentation and the most premium-feeling features. It suits you best if you want the most comfort and convenience equipment and are willing to pay more for it.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert are part of option packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Buick Encore GX?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still some room to negotiate.

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,183 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,801, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Buick Encore GX's resale value?

The current average of $21,093 sits slightly below last year's $22,267.

That softer pricing trend suggests the Encore GX has become a bit easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can also temper future resale upside. If you’re planning to sell later, you should expect value retention to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level.

The good news is that a model with strong owner satisfaction can still attract steady demand from used buyers. That helps support resale value even when the broader market has softened.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX safe?

The 2023 Buick Encore GX earns Good ratings in all IIHS crash tests and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. If you want more advanced assistance, you’ll need to move into option packages for features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic park assist, a 360-degree camera system, and the rearview camera mirror.

One caveat is the lower IIHS score for child-seat anchor ease of use, so families should pay close attention to how child seats fit and install.

Should I buy a 2023 Buick Encore GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the comfortable ride, useful cargo space, and easy-to-use technology that define the model.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $19,177, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $21,093 average.
• It offers a familiar, well-equipped formula with a style-forward focus.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $22,121, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $21,093 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and a more modern touchscreen.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and everyday usability, the 2023 is the sensible pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the value play; if you want newer styling and tech, the 2024 is worth the extra money.
