Used 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge for Sale near South Bend, IN

Is the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge a good car?

The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge earns a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10. It fits best if you want a distinctive-looking EV with a polished cabin, familiar Volvo character, and straightforward technology, but the trade-offs are real: the electric range is unimpressive and cargo space is limited. It also scores lower on value, which matters if you’re comparing it with newer EVs that offer more range or more space for the money. Good and great deals account for 36.9% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge reliable?

The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge is presented as a familiar, conservative take on Volvo’s electric formula rather than a radical new design, which can be a plus for long-term ownership because you’re getting a well-established brand approach instead of a first-of-its-kind experiment. Its electric powertrain is described as smooth and pleasant in everyday driving, with low interior noise and a suspension tuned for comfort, which supports the sense that it should be easy to live with. The standard one-pedal drive mode also helps you use regenerative braking in a way that can reduce brake wear in normal use. Volvo’s battery warranty runs eight years or 100,000 miles, and that gives used buyers an important ownership backstop. For a used EV, your biggest long-term risk is battery and charging-system wear, so you should pay close attention to charging behavior and battery condition before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing examples with different mileage, charging habits, or warranty coverage. Focus on overall condition, battery health, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging, since that can affect how you evaluate long-term battery wear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The C40 Recharge is positioned as a well-equipped model with standard advanced safety features and a cabin that leans into sustainable materials. The main trade-off at this level is that you do not get leather upholstery, and the car’s style-first approach comes with limited cargo space.
• Powertrain: It launches with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive electric setup rated at 402 horsepower and 486 pound-feet of torque. The battery pack is 78 kWh, with 75 kWh of usable capacity, and the setup is tuned more for smooth, quick everyday driving than for sporty handling.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, oncoming mitigation by braking, oncoming lane mitigation, and Pilot Assist with adaptive cruise control and automated lane centering.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen, and Android Automotive OS with Google built-in features. Wireless-style convenience is supported through Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and the system also supports over-the-air software updates.
• Range & charging: EPA range is 226 miles, usable battery capacity is 75 kWh, and DC fast charging can take the battery from zero to 80% in about 40 minutes. A 11-kilowatt onboard charger can refill the battery in about eight hours on a 240-volt Level 2 setup.
• Battery health: Ask for battery state-of-health information if it’s available, and look for signs that the car has been charged sensibly rather than abused. Home charging is generally easier on an EV than repeated fast charging, so it helps to understand the previous owner’s routine. Also confirm how much of the eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty remains.

Which 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge is offered in 1 trim level: C40 Recharge.

Here's the short version:

The C40 Recharge is the trim to buy because it’s the only one, and it already bundles the standard and optional equipment that would otherwise be spread across a broader lineup. That means you’re not choosing between multiple versions so much as deciding whether the car’s style, comfort, and standard safety tech are worth the price and the limited cargo space. It’s best for you if you want the most complete version of this EV without having to step up through a trim ladder.

The safety package is a major part of the appeal here, since Volvo loads the car with standard driver-assistance features and Pilot Assist.

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It’s Volvo’s first mass-produced pure electric model without a gasoline counterpart, and it leans into a polished cabin, standard safety tech, and a style-first design.

If you’re more price-sensitive, you should also compare it with other EVs that offer more range, faster charging, or better practicality for the money.
