Used 2022 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearBaton Rouge, LA

How much does the 2022 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 2.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,442 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.78/5, and the expert rating is 7.00/10. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, ruggedness, and spacious interior. The review summary also points to strong off-road performance and a vehicle that feels well suited to buyers who want durability and utility. On the downside, some owners feel it is overpriced for the limited features it offers.

The expert review lines up with that use case: the 4Runner is built for adventure and everyday family duty, but it is not the most polished choice. The trade-offs include sluggish performance and an outdated interior.

With 36.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary repeatedly points to reliability and a trouble-free ownership experience, and it also emphasizes the 4Runner’s ruggedness and long-term appeal. The expert review reinforces that theme by describing the V6 as reliable, even if it is dated and not especially quick. Toyota also backs the 4Runner with a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that durability does not erase age-related wear, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the SUV has seen trail use or heavy family duty. Focus on overall condition, because rugged use can hide wear that does not show up in photos.

Key things to evaluate:

Which 2022 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Trail Special Edition, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core 4Runner experience with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a WiFi hotspot, and standard driver assistance features. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and can live without comfort upgrades.
• Trail Special Edition: This trim adds a more adventure-focused setup with cargo gear, unique styling, and practical storage touches. It suits you if you want a distinctive 4Runner with extra utility.
• TRD Sport: This trim leans more road-oriented with X-REAS performance suspension, larger wheels, and sport styling. It is the pick if you want a more dressed-up look and a firmer on-road feel.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the best-value choice if you care most about capability, because it adds four-wheel drive, a locking rear differential, skid plates, crawl control, active traction control, and a terrain management system. It is the trim to target if off-road use matters most.
• TRD Pro: This is the most capable and most feature-rich off-road version, with enhanced shock absorbers, a JBL stereo, surround-view and off-road cameras, dual-zone climate control, and a moonroof. Choose it if you want the most equipment and trail-focused hardware.
• Limited: This is the most road-focused trim, with leather, heated and ventilated front seats, parking sensors, and X-REAS sport suspension. It fits you best if comfort and convenience matter more than trail hardware.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and the surround-view camera system remain extra on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,442 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,188, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $39,380 sits slightly below last year's $40,579.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation. If you plan to sell later, the current trend means you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than rougher, higher-mileage trucks.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner earns four-star ratings in frontal and side-impact testing, and three-star ratings in rollover testing from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree surround-view parking camera system are not standard on every trim. The TRD Pro also adds an off-road camera system.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances rugged capability with standard safety tech and easy-to-use infotainment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,872, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $39,380 average.
• It emphasizes reliability, utility, and go-anywhere capability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $43,897, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $39,380 average.
• It adds standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and the 4Runner’s core rugged appeal, the 2022 is the smart default. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money, while the 2023 makes sense if you want the added safety equipment and do not mind paying more.
