Used 2022 Subaru WRX for Sale nearAkron, OH

How much does the 2022 Subaru WRX cost?

Prices have softened 5.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,100 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Subaru WRX earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its thrilling performance, sporty features, and strong value, especially with all-wheel drive. They also highlight its driving sophistication and versatility for both daily commuting and more spirited use.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is poor, and advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

That fits a performance sedan aimed at you if you want everyday usability with enthusiast appeal, rather than maximum efficiency or the most complete standard safety package.

With 38.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a reliable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with owners describing it as dependable and versatile for long-term daily use. The expert drive notes also emphasize that the car’s all-wheel-drive setup and improved platform help it feel composed and confidence-inspiring.

Subaru’s maintenance messaging also notes that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about how hard the car was driven and modified before you buy it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Subaru WRX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven aggressively. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of wear that can reveal how the car was used.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim uses a more unusual dual 7-inch display setup, while premium-trim and higher cars get the 11.6-inch tablet-style touchscreen. Base and Premium trims also miss the blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert that come standard on Limited and GT models.
• Powertrain: The WRX uses a 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer four-cylinder with 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. You can choose a six-speed manual or a CVT, and the manual keeps continuous all-wheel drive with a 50/50 front-rear split.
• Safety package: CVT-equipped models come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight suite, which includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic steering assist, and an electronic brake booster. Manual cars do not get EyeSight.
• Infotainment: Premium-trim and higher models get an 11.6-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, though the integration is imperfect, and the system is also available with an 11-speaker Harman Kardon stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: Subaru says the WRX should return 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 22 combined.

Which 2022 Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Subaru WRX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Premium, Limited, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the WRX formula at the lowest cost, but you give up the larger touchscreen and the extra driver-assistance features found higher up the range. It still gives you the core appeal of standard all-wheel drive and a manual transmission.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the more impressive 11.6-inch touchscreen and keeps the WRX’s enthusiast-friendly character intact. It also brings the external transmission-fluid cooler, and Subaru expects this trim to be the volume seller.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want the added safety hardware, since it adds blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert as standard equipment. It suits you best if you want a more complete daily-driver package.
• GT: This is the top trim and the only one with the CVT, Recaro seats, electronically controlled dampers, and Drive Mode Select with more settings than usual. It is the right pick if you want the most feature-rich WRX and are comfortable giving up the manual.

The safety-package gap is important here: EyeSight is standard only with the CVT, while the Limited and GT add blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Subaru WRX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,100 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,801, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $25,801 sits slightly below last year's $27,391.

That price movement suggests the WRX has softened enough to create a better entry point for you now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing. If the market continues to favor buyers, resale values could stay under pressure unless a car stands out for condition, mileage, or equipment.

Strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, though, especially for a model that still has enthusiast appeal and all-wheel-drive practicality. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than ordinary compact sedans with less distinctive character.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX safe?

The 2022 Subaru WRX earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Safety in the WRX is a tale of two transmissions. CVT-equipped models come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight suite of advanced driver assistance systems, which includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic steering assist, and an electronic brake booster. Manual cars do not get EyeSight, even as an option.

Separate from EyeSight, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the Limited and GT trims, but not on the base and Premium trims.

The car also benefits from the Subaru Global Platform, which absorbs more energy in a crash than the previous architecture, and it comes with seven airbags, including a driver’s-side knee airbag.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It sharpens the WRX formula with better powertrain, suspension, and technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,760, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $25,801 average.
• It emphasizes driving enjoyment over refinement, with standard AWD and a practical sedan body.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $28,081, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $25,801 average.
• It keeps the current WRX formula and adds no changes for the model year.

The bottom line: If you want the most polished version of this generation’s WRX formula, the 2022 is the smart default. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want the same basic package with no meaningful year-over-year changes, the 2023 is harder to justify at a higher price.
