Is the 2022 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Generally — with a 4.33/5 user rating, this model year lands as a well-regarded choice for shoppers who want practical all-weather transportation. The overview points to standard all-wheel drive, affordable practicality, and everyday usefulness as its main strengths, especially if you want a compact car that can handle commuting, errands, and rough weather with confidence. Is the 2022 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the Impreza’s reliability story is tied to its straightforward, practical character rather than complexity or luxury features. Its standard all-wheel drive and compact-car simplicity support the case for dependable everyday use, especially if you want a car built around routine commuting and foul-weather confidence. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding an example that has been heavily used, abused, or modified.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Subaru Impreza?

At 74.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on signs of wear, uneven panel gaps, suspension issues, and evidence of modifications or hard use. Focus on overall condition first, because this model year’s market includes enough mixed-history examples that a clean, well-kept car is worth extra scrutiny.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 636 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,790, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $17,876 sits slightly below last year's $19,493.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the softer pricing means resale upside may be more limited unless your car stands out for condition, mileage, and history. A clean, well-maintained example should still attract interest because shoppers in this segment often prioritize practical value and all-weather capability.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,546, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,876 average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive and a straightforward, practical small-car setup.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and deal availability, the 2022 is the better primary target. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the smarter secondary path, especially if you find a clean example with the right history and condition.
