The Porsche Cayenne provides a lavish, comfortable ride, backed by the brand’s rich performance DNA. The 2022 Cayenne E-Hybrid builds on this with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that only contributes to the sporty SUV’s potency and efficiency. The Cayenne E-Hybrid is available in the traditional SUV layout, as well as in a sleek (yet less functional) coupe form. The Cayenne E-Hybrid SUV provides up to 56.8 cubic feet of cargo space, while the coupe’s cargo space falls to 50.8 cubic feet.
The Cayenne E-Hybrid comes extremely well-equipped, including leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, a 10-speaker premium stereo, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. Android Auto is not available.
Buyers can select the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid. In addition to its potent powertrain, this trim adds features such as a heated steering wheel, heated front-and-rear seats, a panoramic moonroof, and dynamic chassis control. This model also comes with a 14-speaker Bose sound system. A 21-speaker Burmester sound system is available.
The Cayenne E-Hybrid is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 working with an electric motor. The system provides a combined 455 horsepower. The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that puts out 670 total system horsepower. An 8-speed automatic transmission routes power to all-wheel drive. When fully charged, the Cayenne E-Hybrid can travel up to 16 miles on electric-only power. The Turbo S E-Hybrid can travel up to 14 miles.
The EPA rates plug-in hybrid vehicles in terms of miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent (MPGe). Both the Cayenne E-Hybrid SUV and coupe return 46 MPGe. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, front-and-rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
