How much does the 2022 Nissan Sentra cost?

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Sentra earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It is meant to be a competent, affordable small sedan and an approachable entry point for Nissan, and it benefits from a significant 2020-model-year redesign that gives it a more current foundation. The cabin is comfortable, the technology is easy to use, and the design is stylish.

The trade-offs are that its performance is fairly pedestrian and some rivals offer more cargo space.

33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Sentra is described as a well-rounded compact sedan with few, if any, shortcomings, and its 2020 redesign gives it a more current foundation. Its powertrain is presented as consistent rather than exciting, with solid low-end acceleration and good highway manners.

The Sentra is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps support confidence for used buyers.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether its modest performance and practicality fit your needs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with added equipment. Focus on overall condition, since the Sentra’s appeal comes from being a comfortable, easy-to-live-with compact sedan rather than a standout performance car.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim includes 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, halogen headlights, and a 7-inch touchscreen, while the SV adds 16-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, proximity keyless entry, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The SR adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and sport cloth seats, so the base trim is the most stripped-down choice.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Sentra uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The setup is described as satisfactory and consistent, with solid low-end acceleration and good highway behavior.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. Higher equipment can add a surround-view parking monitor and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the SV and SR get an 8-inch touchscreen. The system also includes Bluetooth and physical controls, but it does not offer wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sentra returns 29 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined, while the SR returns 28 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and SR.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and can live with the most basic equipment. You still get the core tech and safety features, including the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but it is the most stripped-down version.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, proximity keyless entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the larger 8-inch touchscreen.
• SR: Choose this if you want the most upscale look and the most equipment, including 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, and sportier exterior and interior details.

The standard safety package is strong across the lineup, but higher trims can add more convenience-focused driver assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to make shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,665 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,497, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $16,752 sits slightly below last year's $17,942.

That price movement suggests the Sentra has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. A lower entry cost today can make it easier to limit losses later, especially if you choose a well-kept example with desirable equipment.

Its broad appeal as a comfortable, easy-to-use compact sedan should help keep it relevant to budget-minded shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sentra comes with forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. Higher equipment can add a surround-view parking monitor and adaptive cruise control.

One caveat is that the adaptive cruise control can brake abruptly when it closes in on traffic ahead, and the IIHS noted lower headlight ratings even though the Sentra otherwise scored highly.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It benefits from a significant 2020-model-year redesign that gives it a more current foundation.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,398, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $16,752 average.
• It feels like a smart choice rather than a compromise.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced pick, the 2022 is the stronger choice because it combines a lower market price than last year, solid safety, and broad everyday appeal. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers many of the same core strengths.
