Used 2022 Lexus RX for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2022 Lexus RX cost?

Prices have softened 5.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,100 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Lexus RX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Lexus RX earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, luxury feel, and feature content, and they also highlight its advanced tech. The main trade-offs are its lack of pickup power and concerns about gas mileage. For you, that means the RX makes the most sense if you want a relaxed luxury SUV rather than a quick one, especially since the 2022 model is a carryover with only minor updates and is aimed at buyers who value refinement over performance. Good and great deals account for 38.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Lexus RX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, dependable, and easy to live with over time. Expert commentary also emphasizes the RX’s reputation for comfort, quality, and reliability, which reinforces the idea that this is a model built for steady ownership rather than drama. The RX’s competitive pricing and strong value proposition further support that impression, and the available maintenance-friendly ownership experience helps keep day-to-day use straightforward. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about whether the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history match its reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lexus RX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the vehicle’s features and trim level match the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The gas model is offered in base 350, F Sport, and L trims. The base and L versions emphasize comfort and luxury, while F Sport adds a more athletic look with 20-inch wheels, black-housing mirrors, dark window trim, F Sport badging, and a unique front fascia. The base and L trims use 18-inch wheels, so the feature gap is noticeable if you want a more upscale appearance.
• Powertrain: The RX 350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 295 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available. The hybrid RX 450h adds two electric motors and produces 308 hp, but that is a separate hybrid model.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System 2.0+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning with steering assist, road-sign recognition, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, pre-collision braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, and intelligent high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, and Lexus Enform Safety Connect are also standard. The Top Safety Pick result depends on the optional triple-beam LED headlights.
• Infotainment: Standard infotainment uses an 8-inch touchscreen, with a 12.3-inch screen available. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available, along with wireless charging, Amazon Alexa compatibility, a WiFi hotspot, navigation with cloud-based updates, and multiple premium audio options.
• Fuel efficiency: The RX 350 returns 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 combined. AWD or the three-row L model lowers those figures by 1 mpg, and the 350L AWD is rated at 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 23 combined. The RX 450h is rated at 30 mpg combined, with 31 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Lexus RX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lexus RX is offered in 3 trim levels: base 350, F Sport, and L.

Here's the short version:

• base 350: This is the most straightforward choice if you want the RX’s core strengths — comfort, luxury feel, and strong value — without paying for the sportier appearance or the extra seating of the L model. It’s the best-value starting point for most shoppers.
• F Sport: Choose this if you want the most aggressive styling and a more athletic look, including the larger wheels, unique front fascia, and F Sport-specific interior touches. It suits you best if appearance matters more than actual performance gains.
• L: Pick this if you need the three-row, 7-passenger layout. It’s the right call when passenger flexibility matters more than the standard two-row setup.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the Top Safety Pick result depends on the optional triple-beam LED headlights.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus RX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,100 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.26% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,752, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $38,752 sits slightly below last year's $40,904.

That price movement suggests the RX has softened enough to give you a better entry point now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well you buy and maintain the vehicle. If you purchase near the low end of the range and keep the SUV in clean condition, you’re better positioned to limit depreciation. The RX’s broad appeal and strong reputation should help support demand, especially among shoppers who want a comfortable luxury SUV with a proven nameplate.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus RX safe?

The 2022 Lexus RX earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS, but only when equipped with the optional triple-beam LED headlights, and it earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star side crash results and four-star frontal crash and rollover ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System 2.0+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning with steering assist, road-sign recognition, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, a pre-collision system with cyclist and pedestrian detection, and intelligent high beams. Standard equipment also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, and Lexus Enform Safety Connect. The main caveat is that the RX misses the IIHS top-tier plus designation because of its headlights rating, so you should pay close attention to headlight equipment when shopping.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 is a carryover model with minimal changes, including new colors and a standalone fog lamps option.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,354, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,752 average.
• It adds a few tech upgrades and new standard safety systems.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $45,654, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $38,752 average.
• The redesign adds more dynamic and technological polish.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the right pick if you want the familiar RX formula at a softer price than newer redesigns. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the value play; if you want the latest redesign and can spend more, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
