Is the 2022 Kia Telluride a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Telluride earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10. Owners consistently praise its value, luxurious-feeling features, spacious interior, safety equipment, and smooth ride. That lines up well with its role as a midsize three-row crossover SUV that aims to deliver broad family appeal and strong everyday usefulness. The main trade-offs are frustrating features, including the lack of wireless Android Auto and some build quality complaints. Even so, the market still shows 36.7% good or great deals, which supports its appeal for shoppers comparing family SUVs.

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Owners also describe it as dependable and trouble-free in the way they talk about its value, safety, and overall ownership experience. The Telluride’s performance and ownership story also point to a vehicle you can count on for daily family use, with a smooth ride and strong highway manners. Kia’s complimentary one-year Kia Connect trial and strong warranty program add another ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some frustrating features and build-quality complaints may show up more clearly as mileage and age increase.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Telluride?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any listing you like, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a close inspection of the cabin electronics, trim condition, and any signs of prior repair or wear. Focus especially on whether the features you want are present on the exact vehicle you’re considering, since equipment changes by trim can be significant.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, S, EX, and SX trims differ in equipment, and the base version misses some convenience and tech upgrades that appear higher up the range.
• Powertrain: You get a 291-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and there is no hybrid alternative.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction. Highway Driving Assist is standard, and Safe Exit Assist is included as well.
• Infotainment: Every Telluride gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation and voice recognition, but wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are no longer available; they now require a wire.
• Fuel efficiency: The Telluride returned 21 mpg in combined driving during testing, and the front-wheel-drive version is rated at 23 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Kia Telluride trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Telluride is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, S, EX, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Telluride’s core space, style, and safety without paying for extras.
• S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful equipment while staying below the upper trims.
• EX: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and more comfort-oriented features for family duty.
• SX: This is the most premium choice, with the richest equipment list and the strongest luxury-like presentation.

Kia’s standard safety package is a major selling point across the lineup, and the added driver-assistance tech helps every trim feel well equipped.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Telluride?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,163 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,095, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Telluride's resale value?

The current average of $26,095 sits slightly below last year's $30,590.

That price movement suggests the Telluride has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a seller, the current market is less favorable than it was a year ago, but the model’s strong reputation and broad demand should still support interest from shoppers. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the vehicle well, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Telluride safe?

The 2022 Telluride earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection for the driver and front passenger. The Telluride also earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction. Highway Driving Assist is standard, and Safe Exit Assist is included too. The main caveat is that the NHTSA frontal-impact result is lower than the overall score, and the available Blind-Spot View Monitor is not standard.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Telluride or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds more standard equipment and keeps the Telluride highly competitive.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,691, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $26,095 average.
• It offers strong value, appealing styling, and a premium-feeling interior.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,537, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $26,095 average.
• It adds minor styling changes, new technologies, and X-Line/X-Pro trims.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want a well-equipped Telluride with strong value and broad market support. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the smarter price-first alternative. If you want newer styling and more capability-flavored trims, the 2023 is worth the extra money.
