How much does the 2022 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 12.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,335 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable range of choices.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Sorento earns a 4.64/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its modern design, spacious interior, and family-friendly features. The review summary also points to strong performance and fuel economy as recurring positives.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, the third row is cramped, and the voice recognition system is poor. That makes it a better fit if you want a stylish, well-equipped family SUV and can live with some compromises in everyday usability.

With its three-row layout and broad family focus, it suits shoppers who want a modern crossover with a strong feature set rather than maximum third-row comfort. The market also shows 38.6% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.64/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with praise centered on its modern design, family-friendly usability, and overall satisfaction over time. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by highlighting the Sorento’s generous warranty and solid quality.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same as problem-free listings. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, and focus on cabin condition, feature operation, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX trim is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience. The X-Line treatment adds rugged styling, a lifted suspension, black lower body cladding, matte-finish wheels, and roof rails, and the SX Prestige adds a more comfortable driver’s seat and heated second-row captain’s chairs.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as underwhelming, while the turbocharged 2.5-liter is the more satisfying choice. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions are also part of the lineup, with the plug-in hybrid offering electric-only driving before switching to hybrid operation.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise is standard, but its contents vary by trim. Features mentioned include rear-seat reminder, Junction Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and a Blind View Monitor that is exclusive to the SX Prestige X-Line.
• Infotainment: The base LX keeps an 8-inch touchscreen, while other trims get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, satellite radio, Kia Connect services, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Wireless smartphone integration is limited to the base system, while the larger screen requires a USB connection.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas turbo setup is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, while the hybrid is rated between 35 mpg and 37 mpg in combined driving. The plug-in hybrid can travel 32 miles on electricity and returns 34 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it keeps the 8-inch touchscreen while leaving out the larger-screen setup found on higher trims. It makes sense if you want the Sorento’s core three-row packaging at the lowest price, but it is also the most basic version.
• S: This trim is the first step up from the base model and is one of the trims that can get the X-Line package. It is a better fit if you want more equipment than the LX without jumping all the way to the upper end of the lineup.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the more satisfying turbocharged engine and adds wireless smartphone charging. It also can be paired with the X-Line package, giving you a stronger mix of performance and features.
• SX Prestige: This is the most upscale gas trim, with the most comfort-oriented equipment and the richest feature set. It is the right choice if you want the Sorento to feel as premium as possible, and the SX Prestige X-Line also gets the exclusive Blind View Monitor.

Kia Drive Wise is standard across the lineup, but the exact contents vary by trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,335 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,389, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $23,389 sits slightly below last year's $26,702.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than broad market momentum alone.

Well-equipped trims and clean history examples should hold up better than bare-bones or heavily used versions. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2022 Kia Sorento earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a four-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal-impact protection and rollover resistance and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise is standard, but its contents vary by trim level. Notable features include rear-seat reminder, Junction Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and a Blind View Monitor that is exclusive to the SX Prestige X-Line.

One caveat is that the headlights on all but the SX and SX Prestige trims receive the lower IIHS headlight rating, so higher trims have an advantage there.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds broader availability for the X-Line package and standardizes the larger infotainment system on most trims.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,281, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,389 average.
• It offers a redesigned three-row SUV that is easier to maneuver.

The 2022 is the better pick if you want the broader feature set and updated trim availability, especially if you value the newer equipment spread. If your priority is simply spending less, the 2021 remains the more budget-friendly route.
