How much does the 2022 Kia Carnival cost?

Prices have softened 12.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 663 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia Carnival a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Carnival earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the spaciousness, innovative technology, and comfort, and they also like the unique features that help it stand apart from other vehicles in its class. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Carnival’s family-focused mission and its upscale feel for everyday use.

The main trade-offs are that cargo space is limited and the transmission can be irritating in Smart mode. Even so, the Carnival’s distinctive styling and strong value make it a compelling choice if you want people-moving utility without the usual minivan look.

Good and great deals account for 40.1% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2022 Kia Carnival reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels spacious, comfortable, and innovative, and those are the kinds of traits that usually support confidence over time. The expert evaluation also describes the V6 as smooth and steady, with an automatic transmission that operates unobtrusively.

Kia’s outstanding warranty and roadside assistance coverage add another ownership advantage if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul. For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by heavy family use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has seen heavy family duty. Focus on interior condition, seat wear, and how well the tech and driver-assistance features work, since those are central to the Carnival’s appeal.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX gives you the basic exterior treatment, 17-inch wheels, cloth seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen, while EX adds more upscale cabin materials, larger 19-inch wheels, and a 12.3-inch widescreen display. SX and SX Prestige bring the most premium presentation, with SX Prestige adding real leather and VIP Lounge Seats.
• Powertrain: Every Carnival uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. There is no all-wheel-drive or electrified option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning with collision avoidance, lane-departure, lane-keeping, and lane-centering assistance, rear parking sensors, a driver monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic parking guidance lines, ultrasonic rear occupant alert, and Safe Exit Assist. EX adds front parking sensors, cyclist detection, navigation-based adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: LX has an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. EX upgrades to a 12.3-inch widescreen system, but CarPlay and Android Auto become wired; it also adds navigation, wireless charging, and more connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The Carnival is rated at 22 mpg in combined driving, and testing returned 21.7 mpg.

Which 2022 Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Carnival is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the Carnival’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, plus the roomy, family-friendly layout that makes the model appealing in the first place.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system, navigation, wireless charging, and more advanced driver-assistance features. It also brings a more upscale cabin look and feel.
• SX: Choose this if rear-seat entertainment matters, since it adds the dual-screen rear entertainment system, device mirroring, streaming apps, HDMI connections, and rear-seat voice control. It also gets the surround-view camera system.
• SX Prestige: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with real leather, VIP Lounge Seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, and the Blind View Monitor. It suits you best if you want the most premium Carnival experience.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

The market looks favorable if you’re shopping now, especially if you want to compare multiple listings and negotiate from a position of strength.

• Deal availability: 40.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 663 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,039, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $24,039 sits slightly below last year's $27,432.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you’re thinking about future resale. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to recover value later.

The good news for future resale is that the Carnival has strong appeal with families who want space, comfort, and a more distinctive design. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Carnival safe?

The 2022 Kia Carnival’s crash-test results were unavailable when this review was published.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite is extensive and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning with collision avoidance, lane-departure, lane-keeping, and lane-centering assistance, rear parking sensors, a driver monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic parking guidance lines, ultrasonic rear occupant alert, and Safe Exit Assist.

EX adds front parking sensors, cyclist detection, navigation-based adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, and Highway Driving Assist. The expert evaluation notes that HDA can feel overly intrusive and hard to trust in this application, so you may prefer to leave it off.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 40.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It was all-new for 2022, so you’re getting the fresh redesign and the model’s distinctive SUV-like styling.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $28,471, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $24,039 average.
• It keeps the same stylish minivan-versus-SUV identity while adding a more refined take on the formula.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a favorable deal mix. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the secondary path for buyers who want to stay closer to the latest version of the Carnival formula.
