Is the 2022 INFINITI QX80 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 INFINITI QX80 earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

The 2022 QX80 stands out as a full-size luxury SUV that gets a meaningful technology refresh without abandoning its familiar formula. You get a widescreen 12.3-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, navigation with lane guidance, a wireless charger, a Bose sound system, and intelligent cruise control. That makes it a strong fit if you want a large luxury SUV with modern connectivity and standard advanced safety features.

The trade-off is that the QX80’s age still shows in ways that matter. The available information points to a cramped third row and an interior that is not competitive for the class. Even so, it can still make sense if you value feature content and comfort up front over maximum cabin space.

Cons: Cramped third row; interior not competitive for the class.

35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 INFINITI QX80 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 QX80 is described as a full-size luxury SUV that blends upscale comfort with old-school toughness. Its body-on-frame roots and available four-wheel drive give it a rugged character, while the premium interior materials help it feel appropriately upscale. The expert review also points to a strong value proposition for a large luxury SUV, which can matter when you’re thinking about long-term ownership.

Its 400-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 is described as robust, smooth, and linear in power delivery, and the seven-speed automatic is said to shift seamlessly and do a good job managing the engine’s output. Infiniti also recommends premium fuel, so you should factor that into ownership costs.

The QX80’s long-term ownership risk is mostly about age-related compromises rather than outright weakness, so you should expect a durable-feeling SUV that still asks you to accept some outdated packaging.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 INFINITI QX80?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any QX80 you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a large luxury SUV like this, because you want to confirm that the electronics, safety systems, and cabin features are working as expected. Focus on overall condition, since the model’s age and size make wear-and-tear more important than a quick glance might suggest.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Luxe trim brings the core tech and safety equipment, while Premium Select adds 22-inch dark chrome wheels and related exterior accents. Sensory adds advanced climate control, quilted semi-aniline leather seats, 17-speaker Bose audio, heated and cooled front seats, and the body motion-control system.
• Powertrain: The QX80 uses a 400-horsepower, 5.6-liter V8 with 413 lb-ft of torque and a seven-speed automatic transmission. Two-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-departure prevention, forward-collision warning, backup collision intervention, a smart rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, driver attention alert, front knee airbags, and second-row seat belt pre-tensioners.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch Infiniti InTouch display with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation with lane guidance, voice recognition, and Infiniti InTouch connected services. A wireless smartphone charger and a 13-speaker Bose system are standard, while the top trim gets a 17-speaker Bose Performance Series system.
• Fuel efficiency: The QX80 returns 14 mpg city, 20 highway, and 16 combined in 2WD form, while the 4WD version gets 13/19/15 mpg. Infiniti recommends premium gasoline.

Which 2022 INFINITI QX80 trim should I buy?

The 2022 INFINITI QX80 is offered in 3 trim levels: Luxe, Premium Select, and Sensory.

Here's the short version:

• Luxe: This is the best-value choice if you want the QX80’s core appeal without paying for extras. You still get the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, the 13-speaker Bose audio system, and the standard safety suite.
• Premium Select: This trim mainly adds appearance upgrades, including 22-inch dark chrome wheels and dark chrome exterior accents. It makes sense if you want a dressier look, but the equipment jump is modest.
• Sensory: This is the right pick if you want the most comfort and luxury content, including advanced climate control, quilted semi-aniline leather, heated and cooled front seats, the 17-speaker Bose system, and the body motion-control system.

The standard safety package is strong across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 INFINITI QX80?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 713 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,787, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 INFINITI QX80's resale value?

The current average of $35,787 sits slightly below last year's $39,332.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the QX80’s value is being supported more by its feature content and luxury positioning than by strong price momentum. If the model continues to appeal to shoppers who want a large, well-equipped SUV, that should help keep demand steady.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 INFINITI QX80 safe?

The 2022 Infiniti QX80 earns a three-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-departure prevention, forward-collision warning, backup collision intervention, a smart rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, driver attention alert, front knee airbags, and second-row seat belt pre-tensioners.

One caveat is that the QX80’s crash-test coverage is limited, and the available NHTSA result is only for rollover resistance.

Should I buy a 2022 INFINITI QX80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a widescreen 12.3-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and a wireless charger.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,482, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $35,787 average.
• It offers old-school toughness with body-on-frame construction and available low-range four-wheel drive.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the newer tech refresh and stronger standard equipment. If your priority is saving money and you value rugged capability over cabin updates, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
