Used 2022 Ford Expedition for Sale nearTucson, AZ

How much does the 2022 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 19.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,339 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, comfort for long trips, and strong performance, and they also value the technology and overall value for money. The Expedition’s full-size-SUV mission comes through clearly in its roomy cabin and family-friendly usefulness, especially if you want a large vehicle that feels substantial and capable.

The trade-offs are just as clear: poor fuel economy and a busy ride quality. The expert review also points to occasional technical glitches, so you should expect a big, well-equipped SUV that prioritizes space and power over efficiency and polish.

Good and great deals account for 35.3% of listings, so there’s still room to find a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV that many drivers trust for comfort, long-distance use, and everyday family duty. The review language also emphasizes strong performance and value, which usually lines up with buyers feeling confident about living with the vehicle over time.

The expert review reinforces that impression by highlighting the Expedition’s strong powertrain and its ability to handle highway miles with ease. It also notes that the SUV feels well suited to regular use, with a cabin and driving experience that support long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is not outright durability so much as the cost and complexity that can come with a large, tech-heavy SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Expedition?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a vehicle-specific check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on ride quality, electronics, and any signs of hard use, especially if the SUV has been asked to tow or haul regularly. Condition matters a lot here, since the Expedition is a large, premium-leaning SUV and repairs can add up quickly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, Platinum, and Timberline. The base trims are more straightforward, while Limited adds more tech and available driver assistance, and King Ranch and Platinum bring more standard safety equipment. Timberline stands apart with standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, suspension modifications, more ground clearance, a skid plate, and off-roading tech such as Trail Turn Assist.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, with some versions getting a high-output tune. The standard setup makes 380 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, while fuel economy ranges from 17 mpg to 19 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Limited adds Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering assist, speed-limit-sign recognition, intersection assist, and evasive steering assist. King Ranch and Platinum standardize Co-Pilot Assist 2.0, which adds a surround-view camera system, rear automatic emergency braking, and Active Park Assist 2.0.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 12-inch touchscreen with physical controls below it. Sync 4A upgrades to a 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen and a single physical volume dial. Both systems include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access, natural voice recognition, and connected navigation with a 90-day trial.
• Fuel efficiency: The Expedition returns 17 mpg to 19 mpg in combined driving, and the review also notes an observed 16.2 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2022 Ford Expedition is offered in 6 trim levels: XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, Platinum, Timberline.

Here's the short version:

• XL STX: This is the most straightforward way into the Expedition lineup, but you should expect fewer luxury and tech extras than the higher trims. It makes sense if you want the core size, power, and utility without paying for more equipment than you need.
• XLT: This is the sensible step-up choice if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It sits above the entry trim without jumping all the way to the more expensive luxury-oriented versions.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks more of the Expedition’s appealing tech and driver-assistance content. It also pairs well with the Stealth Edition packages, which add blacked-out styling and, with the Performance Package, red brake calipers.
• King Ranch: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale feel and standard Co-Pilot Assist 2.0. It also gets the adaptive damping suspension, which helps address some of the ride harshness noted in testing.
• Platinum: This is the most premium mainstream choice, and it also standardizes Co-Pilot Assist 2.0. Like King Ranch, it benefits from the more advanced suspension setup that helps smooth out the ride.
• Timberline: This is the one to choose if you want the most off-road-focused Expedition. It adds standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, suspension modifications, more ground clearance, a skid plate, and Trail Turn Assist.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, while Assist+ starts with Limited and Co-Pilot Assist 2.0 is standard on King Ranch and Platinum.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Expedition?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,339 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,312, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $38,312 sits slightly below last year's $47,464.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than broad market momentum alone.

Because the Expedition is a large, expensive SUV, buyers will likely remain selective about trim and condition. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold attention better than rougher or more basic ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2022 Ford Expedition earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford groups the Expedition’s driver-assistance features into three Co-Pilot360 collections. Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a driver monitoring system, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder.

Starting with Limited, Co-Pilot360 Assist+ adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering assist, speed-limit-sign recognition, intersection assist, and evasive steering assist. King Ranch and Platinum standardize Co-Pilot Assist 2.0, which adds a surround-view camera system, rear automatic emergency braking, and Active Park Assist 2.0. BlueCruise is also available for hands-free driving on approved highways.

The lane-centering system drew criticism in testing for inconsistent behavior and frequent warnings, so that is the main caveat to keep in mind if you plan to rely on advanced highway assistance.

Should I buy a 2022 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert testing highlighted the twin-turbo V6, spacious cabin, and impressive technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $29,882, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,312 average.
• It is a competitive full-size SUV for towing, hauling, and carrying passengers.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger mix of tech, features, and current-market availability, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 remains a smart alternative because it delivers the Expedition’s core strengths at a lower price.
