CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Ford Bronco
overall

Summary
With 3,917 currently listed for sale and an average price of $38,277.00, 32.9% of 2022 Ford Broncos for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Ford Bronco 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
90.3% of 2022 Bronco models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Ford Bronco stands out because it delivers the kind of off-road capability that has made it one of the most talked-about SUVs in its class, while still being significantly better to drive on pavement. That combination gives it a broader appeal than a pure trail rig, and the deep roster of Bronco models means there is one for almost any skill level and a wide range of budgets. Ford also gives it multiple body styles, which adds to its versatility and helps make the Bronco feel tailored to different kinds of buyers.
Its strengths are easy to understand: incredible off-road capabilities and plenty of cargo space make it a compelling choice for shoppers who want adventure without giving up everyday usefulness. The Bronco’s popularity also speaks to how well it lands with buyers, though that demand has made it sold out for 2022. The tradeoffs are worth noting, too, since advanced safety features are not standard and its safety scores are middling.

Definitely over priced!! Kind of generic plastic inside. The 4 cylinder turbo is under powered- definitely find a v6 turbo. Rides smoothly. Very weak sound system .. don’t know how Bang and Olufsem sounds. Manual seats are pretty annoying. Hard top was $5k n totally plastic. It’s cool to own a Bronco but for the money , you should get a loaded Wrangler. It is way better priced and way better options - but …. They are 20 to 1 on the road wranglers to Broncos

I’ve owned two Jeep Wranglers and the Bronco puts them to shame. Excellent ride, steering, suspension and handling. The vehicle is comfortable, roomy and a much better vehicle for daily driving versus the Wrangler. The soft top is quick and simple to lower and appears to be of good quality and the visibility is excellent through all windows thanks to the frameless doors that are a breeze to remove. This is the best vehicle I’ve ever owned!

How much does the 2022 Ford Bronco cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $38,205 |
| Year-Round Low | $37,921.99 |
| Year-Round High | $41,881.86 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $41,880 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.77% |
Prices have softened 8.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,990 listings available, which suggests you have meaningful inventory to compare across trims and body styles.
If you find a listing below $37,921.99, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Ford Bronco earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise its performance, off-road capability, stylish design, comfort, tech features, and spaciousness. The Bronco also stands out for buyers who want adventure without giving up everyday usefulness, especially if you value a vehicle that feels tailored to different kinds of buyers.
The main trade-offs are that some owners feel it is overpriced and that too many essential features are optional. The Bronco’s broad appeal comes from its off-road focus and multiple body styles, but that same setup means you should be ready to pay more for the equipment you want.
With 30.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels exciting, capable, and satisfying to live with over time. That kind of response matters when you’re shopping used, because it suggests people who buy one tend to feel good about the ownership experience.
The expert evaluation also supports that impression by emphasizing how well the Bronco performs in demanding conditions while still behaving well on pavement. Its capability and everyday drivability make it feel like a vehicle you can count on for both trail use and regular driving.
Ford also includes useful maintenance and ownership-friendly touches in the broader package, which can help reduce friction early in ownership.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Bronco’s popularity and optional-feature structure can make it more expensive to buy and equip well.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Bronco?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report on any Bronco you’re considering, especially if it has been used for trail driving or modified. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing because off-road use can hide wear that doesn’t always show up in photos or a listing description. Focus on condition, equipment completeness, and signs of hard use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup ranges from more basic, utilitarian versions to more capable and better-equipped models, and the base trim leaves out several advanced safety features that appear on higher packages.
- Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder and a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6; both deliver strong output, and the four-cylinder is the only one available with the seven-speed manual.
- Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite adds frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams, while the High and Luxe packages add more advanced features.
- Infotainment: The Sync 4 system has quick responses and sharp graphics, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
- Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder two-door is estimated at 20 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined, while the V6 ranges as low as 17 mpg combined.
Which 2022 Ford Bronco trim should I buy?
The 2022 Ford Bronco is offered in 7 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and Everglades.
Here's the short version:
- Base: This is the entry point if you want the Bronco’s core off-road hardware and the lowest starting price, but you should expect to add packages if you want more convenience and safety equipment.
- Big Bend: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability while staying relatively accessible in the lineup.
- Black Diamond: Choose this if you want a more trail-ready setup and a stronger emphasis on rugged use.
- Outer Banks: This trim leans more toward comfort and style while still keeping the Bronco’s capability intact.
- Badlands: This is the right pick if you want a more serious off-road setup and are willing to pay for it.
- Wildtrak: This is the high-capability choice for shoppers who want one of the most accomplished Bronco setups.
- Everglades: This is the most specialized trim, built for swamp trekking and deep water with equipment like a snorkel, winch, and 35-inch mud-terrain tires.
The safety package is not standard on the base trim, so if advanced driver assistance matters to you, prioritize a higher trim or a package-equipped example.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Bronco?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,990 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.77% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 90.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $37,921.99, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Ford Bronco's resale value?
The current average of $38,205 sits slightly below last year's $41,880.
That price movement suggests the Bronco has cooled from its earlier level, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you’re thinking about short-term resale. If you buy well, the current market gives you a better entry point than last year’s average.
The Bronco’s strong demand and broad appeal should help support future buyer interest, especially for well-equipped examples in good condition. Trim, mileage, and package content will matter a lot when it comes time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco safe?
The standard Bronco earns Good ratings from IIHS in frontal, side, and roof strength tests, and Acceptable ratings for head restraints and seats. The four-door has received four-star ratings for frontal crash protection from NHTSA, and both the four- and two-door Broncos have three-star rollover ratings.
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
The Bronco includes hill-start assist, hill descent control, and trailer sway control as standard equipment. Additional driver-assistance features are available through packages, including frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, front parking sensors, a surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, and evasive steering assist.
The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, especially on the base trim. That means you should pay close attention to package content if safety tech is a priority for you.
Should I buy a 2022 Ford Bronco or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.77% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines broad trim choice with strong off-road ability and better pavement manners than many rivals.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $37,093, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,205 average.
- It is a purpose-built off-roader with strong capability and a clear identity.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $42,036, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $38,205 average.
- It adds even more model variety and everyday versatility across nine distinct models.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and broad appeal, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while keeping the core Bronco formula intact. If you want more model variety and don’t mind paying more, the 2023 is the better fit.
