How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban cost?

Prices have softened 14.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,417 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It stands out for its roomy cabin and broad capability, and it offers multiple powertrain options along with a powerful engine. Chevrolet also gives it meaningful technology and safety updates, including a larger digital instrument cluster on LT and above, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features.

The trade-offs are clear: the design can be polarizing, fuel economy is poor, and it can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces.

With 36.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Suburban’s appeal comes from its durable, truck-based full-size SUV formula, plus the added flexibility of multiple engines and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The available 3.0-liter turbodiesel is described as torquey and as delivering excellent fuel economy, and it comes with a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Chevrolet also adds practical ownership value with the diesel’s longer powertrain coverage, which can help reduce risk if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially on a large SUV that may have been used for family hauling or towing. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the features you want are present on the specific trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS is the most basic version, while the LT adds leather seats and more upscale equipment. Higher trims bring more material quality and features, and the base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more comfort and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: You can choose among a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six. The diesel stands out for its torque and excellent fuel economy, while the 6.2-liter V8 is the strongest gas option.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard, while reverse automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control are available.
• Infotainment: The LS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice recognition. LT and above upgrade to a 10.2-inch system with Google built-in, and LT and above also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel economy for the V8 models ranges from 14 mpg city to 20 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 16-17 mpg. The 3.0-liter diesel is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Suburban trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premiere, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the most basic equipment. It gets the 8-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the standard Chevy Safety Assist suite.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather seats, the 10.2-inch infotainment system with Google built-in, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a stronger overall sense of polish.
• RST: This is the style-forward choice, especially if you want a sportier look and the available 6.2-liter V8. It suits you if appearance and stronger acceleration matter more than value.
• Z71: This is the trim to consider if you want the standard 4WD setup and the more rugged-oriented configuration. It also gets the 6.2-liter V8 availability and the two-speed transfer case as standard.
• Premiere: This trim adds more upscale equipment and is one of the trims that can be paired with the 6.2-liter V8. It makes sense if you want a more premium feel without going all the way to the top.
• High Country: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the most upscale cabin treatment and the 6.2-liter V8 standard. Buy this if you want the most premium Suburban experience.

Safety features are standard across the lineup, but some advanced items remain optional rather than included on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Suburban?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,417 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $42,253, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban's resale value?

The current average of $42,253 sits slightly below last year's $49,302.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less depreciation pressure than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. Strong demand for large, capable SUVs can still help support values, especially for well-equipped examples in good condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash and all other NHTSA tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, front pedestrian braking, rear park assist, following distance indicator, automatic high-beam headlights, and an HD rear-vision camera. For 2022, front park assist, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-departure warning are standard, while reverse automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, lane-changing assistance, and a head-up display are available.

One caveat is that IIHS has not tested this generation, so you’ll want to lean on the standard equipment list and the NHTSA results when evaluating safety.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Chevrolet added a larger digital instrument cluster on LT and above, standard Google built-in, and standard park-assist and lane-maintenance features.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,402, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $42,253 average.
• It still offers the cabin space and capability that make the Suburban appealing.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped version and can take advantage of the softer pricing, the 2022 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 remains a sensible alternative, especially if you can find one in good condition with the features you want.
