How much does the 2022 BMW 5 Series cost?

Prices have softened 8.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,540 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 5 Series earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview describes it as a midsize luxury sedan that blends technology, refinement, and driving appeal, while still feeling more engaging than many competitors. It also notes that you get a well-equipped sedan without much year-to-year upheaval, which can make shopping simpler if you want a familiar formula with a premium feel. With 37.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 5 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests a car that balances luxury, technology, and performance credibility, while also noting that it is pricey and complex. It also points to a broad feature set and a well-equipped package for the model year, which can be appealing if you want a premium sedan with substance. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that complexity can make upkeep and troubleshooting more demanding than on simpler cars.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a thorough pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the car’s condition matches the listing. Pay close attention to wear, electronics, and how well the technology works, since the overview says the system can be tough to master. Because this is a premium sedan, condition matters a lot, so a clean-looking car should still get a careful mechanical and cosmetic review.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 5 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,540 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,365, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 5 Series's resale value?

The current average of $33,433 sits slightly below last year's $36,550.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point than a year ago, which can help if you plan to resell later. A lower purchase price can reduce your depreciation exposure, especially if you buy near the bottom of the current range. The model’s premium positioning and broad appeal should still support demand, but future resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 5 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $28,838, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,433 average.
• It adds a refreshed feel with more choice in configuration.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the stronger current-market mix of value, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the better secondary path and still gives you a compelling luxury-sedan experience.
