Audi says it sells more of its Q5 compact luxury crossovers than any other model in its lineup, which is pretty notable since the model has only been around since the 2009 model year. The current Q5 is the Typ 80A, the second generation of the model, which has been available since 2017. The Audi Q5 is available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims. For the 2022 model year, the Q5 undergoes a number of standard equipment revisions. The S line exterior package is now standard, meaning all Q5s now get aluminum front door sill inlays with the illuminated “S” logo. Premium trim Q5s get a new 18-inch wheel design, and Premium Plus trims of the Q5 45 TFSI and Q5 55 TFSI e models now have power steering column adjustment by default. Those same models are now also available with a Black optic package, which adds black exterior trim and 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires. The Q5 55 TFSI e has new sport seats as standard equipment, plus a battery upgrade to 17.9 kWh. The obvious differences between sets of three trim levels described above are the powertrains. (Audi’s “quattro” all-wheel drive, or AWD, is standard across the 2022 Q5 lineup.) Most of these vehicles are powered by the same engine: a 2.0-liter turbocharged dual overhead cam inline four-cylinder. In the 2022 Audi Q5 45 TSFI, it delivers 261 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The 55 TSFI e quattro trims are powered by the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder, but here, it’s teamed with a 17.9-kWh battery and an electric motor in a plug-in hybrid driveline. That combination provides 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter-powered Q5 models feature a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.The Q5 Premium features 18-inch, five-arm star design wheels with all season tires, Advance line interior, lane-departure warning, LED headlights with signature daytime running lights, and a driver information center with a 7-inch color display. The Q5 Premium Plus has 19-inch, five-arm pylon style wheels in matte titanium with all-season tires, a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D sound, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit Plus, a panoramic sunroof, and Audi Active Lane Assist. Prestige trim vehicles feature ventilated sport front seats, a head-up display, the Navigation package, park assist, and matrix-design LED headlamps with washers. The 2022 Audi Q5 starts at $43,300 for the base Audi Q5 Premium 40 TSFI. Premium Plus 40 TFIS starts at $48,300 and Prestige 40 TFSI at $54,000. The top Prestige S Line 45 TFSI trim starts at $56,500.
