Overview
The 2022 Audi A8 is the German luxury brand’s full-size flagship sedan. The current generation has been on the market since 2019, and for 2022, it received a facelift that featured new headlights, new taillights, and an updated grille. The A8 has 12.5 cubic feet of trunk space, which is smaller than those of the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The A8 is available in a single trim that is extremely well-equipped, including Audi’s S-Line package, with aerodynamic side sills and front-and-rear bumpers. Standard features include 19-inch alloy wheels, a Bang & Olufsen premium stereo system, and 22-way multi-contour power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and memory.
Screens are plentiful in the 2022 A8. In addition to the fully digital instrument panel (dubbed “Audi Virtual Cockpit”), the A8 comes with a dual-touchscreen center console layout. The lower screen operates vehicle operations such as climate control. The upper screen operates the stereo, navigation, and connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa.
The 2022 A8 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine in a hybrid configuration. It makes 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission to Audi’s signature Quattro all-wheel drive. This powertrain returns fuel economy of 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 22 combined. The A8 rides on an adaptive air suspension.
Base MSRP for the 2022 Audi A8 is $86,500. An Executive Package ($3,400) adds 20-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control with lane guidance, LED interior lighting, a heated steering wheel, and traffic-sign recognition. A Luxury Package ($5,400) adds dynamic four-wheel steering, heated-and-ventilated rear seats, heated rear armrests, and rear-seat remote control. The Comfort Plus Package ($3,250) adds massaging front seats, head-up display, premium leather upholstery, dual-pane acoustic glass, and heated front armrests. The A8 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Is the 2022 Audi A8 a good car?
The 2022 Audi A8 sits in a moderate market position, and 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals. That gives you a workable starting point if you want a luxury sedan and are willing to compare condition and pricing carefully.
The market also shows 89.8% accident-free inventory, which is a strong sign that many available examples have cleaner histories. If you’re shopping this model, focus on vehicle history, maintenance records, and overall condition rather than chasing the first attractive price you see.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Audi A8?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a pre-purchase inspection and pay close attention to signs of prior bodywork, uneven wear, or deferred maintenance. Because this is a luxury sedan, condition matters as much as mileage, so compare service history, interior wear, and electronic features carefully before you commit.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Audi A8?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have enough inventory to shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 215 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 89.8% of listings are accident-free.
That combination suggests now can be a reasonable time to buy if you’re patient and willing to compare multiple examples. You’ll likely do best by focusing on clean-history cars with strong maintenance records and using the deal share to negotiate.
Should I buy a 2022 Audi A8 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
The bottom line: The 2022 is a sensible choice if you want a current-generation luxury sedan with a decent share of attractive listings and a strong pool of accident-free examples. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it can also make sense to compare nearby model years and shop whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, history, and asking price.
