Used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE for Sale nearColumbia, SC

How much does the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE cost?

Prices have softened 10.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,614 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its technology, comfort, customizable features, and high-quality sound system. The GLE also stands out for its premium interior materials and broad range of powertrain choices, which make it appealing if you want a luxury SUV that can be tailored to different priorities.

The main trade-offs are its uninspired styling and the fact that some owners feel it is overpriced. The expert review also notes that the base engine is underwhelming, so the overall appeal depends a lot on how much equipment and power you choose.

For shoppers who want a midsize luxury SUV with a strong comfort-and-tech focus, the GLE fits that brief well. The market also shows 38.4% good or great deals, so there is still room to find a competitive listing.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for comfort, technology, and a generally trouble-free ownership experience. The expert review also emphasizes that the base GLE 350 uses an ordinary coil-sprung setup, which makes the most sense for reliability because there is nothing expensive to fail.

The review also notes that the GLE’s hybrid setup is more about smooth operation than dramatic efficiency gains, and that the automatic stop-start system becomes seamless. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the more complex higher trims can bring more expensive repairs than the simpler base model.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on suspension behavior, electronics, and any signs of uneven wear or prior bodywork. It also helps to compare condition closely across trims, since the GLE’s equipment and complexity can vary a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GLE 350 uses an ordinary coil-sprung setup, while higher trims can add more sophisticated suspension hardware and a richer equipment mix. The interior is a major strength, but the review notes that you need to option a GLE pretty high to feel rich.
• Powertrain: The GLE 350 uses a 255-hp four-cylinder, the GLE 450 uses a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 362 hp, the AMG GLE 53 adds an electric supercharger for 429 hp, the GLE 580 uses a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 483 hp, and the GLE 63 S tops the range with 603 hp. Efficiency is mixed, with the six-cylinder returning 21/26/23 and the four-cylinder 19/26/22.
• Safety package: The suite includes blind-spot monitoring and a driver attention monitor as standard, with adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, evasive steering assist, front cross-traffic braking, and semi-automated control available as options. Advanced safety features are not standard, so check carefully for the equipment you want.
• Infotainment: The main 12-inch display is a touchscreen with Interior Assistant, and the system also supports the touchpad and thumbpad controls. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the interface includes a natural voice assistant plus a highly configurable display layout.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLE 450 returns 21/26/23, the GLE 350 4Matic returns 19/26/22, the GLE 580 is rated at 16/21/18, and the AMG GLE 53 Coupe averaged 16 mpg.

Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE is offered in 5 trim levels: GLE 350, GLE 450, GLE 580, AMG GLE 53, and AMG GLE 63 S.

Here's the short version:

• GLE 350: This is the entry point, and it is the least expensive way into the lineup. It gives you the core GLE experience, but the base engine is the weakest choice and the review suggests you may want to move up if you care about stronger performance or a more premium feel.
• GLE 450: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds the turbo inline-six and a more satisfying balance of power and refinement. If you want the sweet spot between price, comfort, and capability, this is the trim to focus on.
• GLE 580: Choose this if you want V8 power and a more forceful driving experience. It is a big step up in price, so it makes sense mainly if performance matters more to you than value.
• AMG GLE 53: This trim adds AMG tuning, the electric supercharger setup, and more aggressive driving character. It suits you if you want a sportier GLE without going all the way to the top model.
• AMG GLE 63 S: This is the most powerful and most expensive version, aimed at buyers who want maximum performance and the most extreme hardware in the lineup.

Blind-spot monitoring and a driver attention monitor are standard, while several advanced driver-assistance features remain optional across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,614 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,413, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE's resale value?

The current average of $38,426 sits slightly below last year's $42,838.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure resale returns if you sell soon. If you buy at today’s average, your future resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice.

Higher-spec versions may hold appeal with shoppers who want the GLE’s technology and luxury features, but the model’s value proposition is still shaped by its premium pricing. A well-kept example with desirable equipment should be easier to move than a stripped or heavily worn one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE earned the best Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for scoring the top ratings in six crash tests, for headlights, and for its standard forward emergency braking.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Blind-spot monitoring and a driver attention monitor are standard. Adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, evasive steering assist, front cross-traffic braking, and semi-automated control are optional, along with other features such as 360-degree cameras. Pre-Safe Sound is standard, and Pre-Safe Impulse Side is optional on higher trims.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its broad powertrain range, premium interior, and standout technology.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,313, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $38,426 average.
• It offers a roomier, quieter redesign with strong MBUX tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $40,221, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $38,426 average.
• It leans harder into style with a distinctive SUV-coupe shape.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2021 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2020 is the better value play; if you want a more expressive design, the 2022 is worth a look.
